Why is the Collector's Edition game code still inside the box?

So I pre-purchased the Dragonflight Collector’s Edition, as well as BFA’s and Shadowland’s in the passed years.

What I used to do is buy the Collector, then buy the Epic Version to instantly play with the benefits it’s giving. That was basically $175 + $120 on release of both. Which ultimately sucked. Yes the Collector’s Edition gives you back an amount, but it’s only about $80 even when you spend $120 to get the version you got.

However this year I didn’t. I don’t play a lot as it’s pretty boring and I probably won’t even play in Season 4. I’ll get the raid mount and I’ll never play until Dragonflight.

Now what I don’t understand, is why the code for the in-game version is still in the box ? There should be a code sent to you by mail the second you buy the Collector’s Edition, or the second that edition becomes actually available to purchase and not just to pre-purchase. Right now I paid much more than most players, yet I have to watch those players play with something I don’t have because my version comes at home in a few months. Those who paid $54 (Canadian) which is for the base version of the game still gets a pet, and gets the possibility of playing the Dracthyr race / class before the official release of Dragonflight if it do be available before. Those who paid $89 CAD gets that, but also get a lvl 60 boost available right now, a Flying Mount and an other Pet.

Now I paid $175 for mine, +US +Shipping it became $225. And as it always does I’m also expecting Customs taxes which usually brings it all the way up to $300. I get nothing until it arrives. Which, once more, can be anytime from now to December 31st 2022.

I’ve mentioned in an other forum to at least send every Pre-purchaser a code to the Alpha so we have something others won’t have outside of lucky draw. This would be an idea, but a Code to the in-game versions should be sent by mail when we buy it.

Blizzard is one of the few companies where you get to pay more to have less.

And it’s the way it always was and it doesn’t work anymore, yet they keep it for whatever reasons.

Paying for the Collector’s Edition should be big, like damn man, you paid for the IRL box, to have IRL goodies, you paid almost 200$ for it, f**k yeah. What you’re getting you say ?-- Nothing until you get it

yeah, IDK why they can’t just tie a code to OUR purchase since they ONLY sell CE’s through the Blizzard shop.

I think it’s probably so people don’t preorder, use the code, then cancel their order and get it for free (unless they could track the code to the proper accounts, unless it’s a gift or something).

That and they already know we like to suffer.

Can you cancel the pre-order ? If yes then I can understand, but at least give out the code when the orders are locked in.

Still no reasons for me to not have anything for buying that.
