Why aren’t horrific visions spammable like m+? These are so much better than island expeditions, warfronts, or anything else added this expansion, yet were limited to like 3 runs per week? Why?
You finally do something pretty good, but then explain it terribly, release it in a horribly buggy mess (no gear dropped for me, the thrall gate didn’t drop for one of my runs, etc), and then don’t even let people run them more than 3 or 4 times to figure them out? Come on
“Heh, you want to actually see the content that wasn’t explained is impossible to solo early on, and want to actually challenge yourself rather than just rushing thrall? Well now you’re a week behind get fked idiot”

I prefer islands and borefronts.
The doubloon change was pretty good, but idk islands and warfronts are just so easy and boring. Visions actually have a lot of potential to be challenging solo content (something we don’t really have in this game) and blizzard is basically shooting themselves in the foot right out of the gate.

The next expansion might not be out for close to a year. If they let players spam the new content, players would complain about nothing to do in a week instead of two months.
Although I am somewhat confused why a player’s token is consumed on entry instead of upon looting the chest afterwards. Just feels like a weird choice for modern gaming.

I’d like to do more horrific visions too, but blah blah time played metric, can’t let people get geared too quick!

Thanks for generilizing but no. I’d play this game almost every day if there was no content other than arenas and we just got all our gear given to us from a tournament realm vendor. Thats not the point of my post. But good job agreeing with a corporation who is only motivated by stretching out sub time rather than making enjoyable gameplay. Your $1 blizzard shill token has been added to your bnet account. M+ is spammable and yet I have never heard of a single person who likes doing m+ say “Ugh I have nothing to do”. It’s a good mechanic that adds flair to doing the same dungeon every time (mechanics completely change as you go up in keys and dungeons end up being run completely differently). I see the same potential with horrific visions, but by current design basically no one is going to challenge themselves and try more objectives/harder affixes (or whatever they’re called, the modifiers you can select before you start), because the risk of failure and being permanently behind on your cloak just isn’t even close to worth the reward.
They have no problem letting people get full mythic geared in an afternoon of buying m+ carries lol.

They still have to wait a week for their best pieces in weekly chests.
Because if you didn’t notice. Time gates are a blizzard is quickly using more and more because it forces played to keep playing longer and punished them if they miss a week

I don’t know, but I’m glad I opted to level this character up instead of driving right in to these visions and stuff.
I guess stuff can’t titanforge anymore, but if you ran a few m+ dungeons with all people of your armor type, you would end up being completely decked in every slot in like 2 or 3 hours, since some stuff will be bound to warforge/titanforge
Ya this is bad design

Uh… limiting runs is the exact opposite of the time played metric.
Sorry, I did not mean you as an individual, but instead you as a general term for the entire player base.
It’s not total time logged in they go by it’s monthly active users… the more months a player is subbed the better for them, so they limit these to weekly activities.
If they let players spam everything for the best loot they’d be done in a week or two and unsub til the next patch.

A lot of the danger and gravitas from Horific visions comes from the fact that it is limited in runs per week. You play it differently when you get 1 shot at it, vs when you get 300 shots at it until you succeed.
Combined with the talent tree and Memento farming, making the content infinitely repeatable would mean it would get cleared much faster (gear being the only barrier, rather than your slowly unlocking talent tree) and it would just become another “grind” rather than an enjoyable break in content to do something that matters and requires your attention.
Lockouts exist for reasons.
AKA : it’s not a time played metric.
You’ll be done with Horific Visions in March if you do it every week. 2 months out of a 12 month patch. Hardly “MAU” boosting.
Time played, time subbed, whatever, it’s the same to them. And yeah maybe if you don’t get spammed with the same slot gear which we know won’t happen, then you’d be finished soon but that’s not gonna happen.
Great point.
You have eloquently stated what is obvious. In the end time gates with more time gates is what BFA stands for.

Or it’s just a GD talking point when they want to throw out negativity. Which is the most likely scenario.
If you’re not decently geared in March, I don’t know what to say. Mythic +15s, Mythic raiding and Horific visions with Masks will get you up there quite easily in 2 months time.

Thank you for explaining your point.
And this is why BFA is in trouble because of all this time gating.
Not really borefronts anymore didn’t they add a harder version this patch?
Says the game that has literally had weekly lock outs for raids since it first started…
