You did well in your explanation to these folks. But, they already made up their mind that it’s some politically correct move by Blizzard. Don’t waste your time with them. You answered the OP’s question and even helped me to understand more of the story.
Let them wallow in their pathological hatred of everything Blizzard does.

This is not the dumbest thing I’ve ever read, but it’s still pretty dumb.
So because I disagree I’m wallowing in pathological hatred of everything Blizzard does? I think that’s rather unfair to say that or really the opposite about anyone.
Not sure why it’s so bad for people to just talk back and forth with their opinions.
That’s totally fair. Everyone should be allowed to like/dislike anything they want for any reason, IMO. I mean, especially stuff like entertainment media. It’s almost a totally subjective kind of thing.
You all going back and forth with folks giving explanations like yours is the ONLY reasonable one and debating with him. The guy made a sincere explanation based on the history of Sylvanas and you folks come for him. He answered the question…period.
Most of your responses are “Blizzard are terrible writers and Sylvanus is a Mary Sue.”
You don’t directly challenge his points, you are just being dismissive of them. Don’t know how he feels, but it’s annoying to me to read them especially when his explanation reads like someone trying to be helpful.

Do note that Bolvar, unlike Arthas, is:
- Not undead and therefore weaker as he is not a true Death Knight
- Not in possession of Frostmourne
- Actually never got hurt by Sylvanas
Sylvanas quite literally kited away him the entire fight, and in order to win just held him in place. She wasn’t ever able to make a dent on him.
Also, do understand Sylvanas is empowered by the Jailer, a rumored member of the Shadowlands pantheon.

Why is she so powerful? It’s because it’s what the men wanted. She was targeted for men. Then in the same breathe I have to read comments about how much they dislike her now. As she is too overpowered.
I had this discussion with other people. The response was this has been a trend of all the female characters men like and they try and ruin them. (They used several different fantasy female characters to make a point.) As they know men get enjoyment out of those female characters and they can’t have that.
My whole problem with it is trying to disguise this as some type of “awesome” female character that women wanted in control. Most chicks don’t like Sylvanas and those that do… I just think to myself they clearly don’t know much about that character.
The characters that were targeted towards a female audience get dragged through the mud. (Different franchises come to mind also…) Which we don’t have very many to begin with. It’s even worse nowadays as I am concerned. As the only one I enjoyed got her eyes turned soulless black. I keep asking for new ones but of course they will not comply. So a female character I would actually like to see in a more prominent role is non-existent. I get Sylvanas.
As this isn’t about making anyone happy. (Male or Female) It’s about the complete opposite and actions show it.
This is why Sylvanas Windrunner is overpowered.
If anyone wanted to have a long discussion as to what they thought made sense for Sylvanas as a character here on the forums I’d be all for it, but that really just isn’t something that happens for starters. If anything regardless of how I feel when I’m speaking to someone on here I’m not trying to come at it from a negative stance but just from a point of having a potentially fun conversation. If he has the ability to change my perspective I will appreciate the conversation as it will give me a different way to view things moving forward.
If I truly thought trying to talk with someone was pointless or that it would end in nothing I just simply wouldn’t respond or even try to converse with them to begin with.
Thematically she’s like if the lich king/kel thuzad was a faction leader.
Google “Villain Sue” and you will have your answer.
These aren’t mutually exclusive. Neither is liking the direction mutually exclusive with the quality of the story.
It’s generally widely agreed that the story was sub par at best throughout BfA. Sylvanas’s individual moments may have good points and bad points but overall the story was poorly implemented. It’s not about whether you like the story or not. It’s not even about whether the story “makes sense” to you or not.
You can like something that’s poorly made, and you can dislike something that’s poorly made without it meaning that it’s just you.
Sylvie is level 120+, Bolvy is level 80+; It was a 'mog farm.
Apparently they wanted to retcon the burning of Darnassus.
CAN’T WAIT FOR THE REASON AND HOW KALDOREI GOT THEIR DARK EYES NOW BLIZZARD!
