Why is Sylvanas purple?

Are banshees purple?
She’s not a night elf is she.

Artistic convention.

Sometimes she’s grey, or blue-grey.

As above, she varies from purple-grey to blue-grey to… grey-grey. The latter two are pretty common color conventions for undead. Purple is less common, but not unheard of.

Golden even describes her as green in Elegy I believe… which is just weird.

She leaped, flipping and firing at the same time. As she landed, two small points of red glinted in the shadows of the trees across the river—a face partially obscured by a red cowl.

That face was a shade of gray-blue, but not the healthy, Elune-blessed color of night elf skin. This face had undertones of green, reminding anyone who saw it of the rot that lay behind it. The markings on her face were black, and her eyes glowed crimson.

Sylvanas Windrunner.

Yeah isn’t her body supposed to be pretty well preserved?

In the sense that she’s not a festering hive of maggots and rot, yes. She’s still dead though.

Right so descriptions of her skin flaking around her mouth and joints makes sense but describing her as having a green hue from rot seemed like a description better used on your average Forsaken.

They took every possible opportunity to dump on her, previous sources be damned.

It is… relatively speaking in comparison to the bulk of her subjects. It’s not however anywhere near being what it was when she was alive.
