i dunno i did some ZF cleaving earlier and not only was it boring but wasnt horribly faster. my last level i did of quests was about 3 hours to level, and i did a full zf cleave level today and it took 2 hours 30 minutes.

its technically faster, just mind numbingly boring

Like those trying to tell other people how t hey should or shouldn’t play their game?

I have tanked/healed for a few. If all the casters know what they’re doing, it’s kinda fun. If they don’t all “get it”, it is not fun (in my opinion).

I enjoy “normal” tanking a lot, but, if done properly, spell AoE is a neat alternative.

i havent ran into this in anything besides one sm group i was in. i complained that it wasnt fun… but ya, ever since then i’ve seen more normal stuff… not as much cc as vanilla though… but ya, all the mages think they can just aoe aoe aoe aoe… so ya, that’s one thing i do miss a bit.

I hate it too.

I find that no spellcleaves exist after ZF because they simply get ran over and then need to actually do something besides arcane explosion frost nova blizzard.

Where exactly is he telling others how to play?

“Why is spell cleave groups even a thing?” title - asks a question, doesn’t tell anyone how to do something.

another question, and his observation of what he finds.

so again, where is he telling anyone how they should or shouldn’t play?

It’s faster and easier.

Because as usual the majority want the most lolefficient way to do something, they’re here to rush to 60 for the lolrealgame rather than enjoy the experience of getting there, which is basically what distinguishes the two versions of WOW for me, and seemingly you.

Perhaps the experience of getting to 60 is more enjoyable if they can get through it faster.

Your subjective opinions on how the game is meant to be enjoyed are exactly that: opinions. Just because you don’t think rushing to 60 is enjoyable doesn’t mean others don’t.

Id love to get in on some more spell cleave. Its crazy how much dmg everyone can do. Its also much easier with a frost mage or two ofc.

You either;

A. Have everyone on a neat drinking schedule, getting the most out of your waters. (Lvl55 mage water /licks lips) Whilst not wasting rogue energy/warrior throughput.

B. Not a spell casting character. So why manage how others are enjoying themselves?

C. Can’t adapt

Anyone else excited for DM??

Its called AOE, not spell cleave.

It became a ‘thing’ that went overboard when the exploits with layers became a thing. That is when I first started seeing groups looking for mages. Prior to that, all I saw were normal groups getting made.

Figured there was a reason for it, yeah.

Nobody enjoys the experience of single targeting mobs one at a time. Kill skull, kill x, kill the last one. It’s totally boring. AOE is just a better way of doing it.

I know it sucks for classes that don’t have AOE spells, but you can blame the #nochanges crowd for that.

ya, I have tanked rfc/wc/sfk and planning a bfd tonight… have not ran into one of these yet… probably a level thing… I am expecting to start running into them around the time I hit SM.

I plan on running SM both ways if possible, and then compare the two experiences…

This is dead wrong and I actually embrace classic to get away from the mindless “AOE facerolling mobs without any thought” playstyle that has infested retail for years.

Thankfully, the higher end dungeons have gimmicks that make the playstyle less viable unless you run with good people, aka usually not PuG randos.

Another issue is that unless the group is very coordinated about drinking you can accidentally waste MORE time by biting off more than you can chew and taking forever. If you pull without letting high caster groups drink enough, the mages wand helplessly and the healer (me) does their best by downranking heals to keep people alive with their sliver of mana left. The pulls take forever and everyone with a mana bar gets stressed and pissed off while the tank Leeroys ahead like its an M+. I’ve seen this SO MANY TIMES now that I’m afraid to run outside of my guild.

Mob density in these dungeons is not high enough for AOE, and that’s deliberate because most classes do not have their AOE abilities at the level you run these dungeons.

It’s almost as if Blizzard intended AOE abilities to be used, and designed dungeons accordingly!

Exactly! Wish people would stop trying to turn every group into a spell cleave group…nothing worse than getting into a SM Cath “spell cleave” group and everyone but the tank and you is level 34. You know that’s gonna be a fun time.

They always say they are pros and not to worry about it, yet they always wipe repeatedly.

as a primary single target main, (hunter) i was a hater, but i find that on my warlock alt, it can be super fun to yell out in group “AOE time!” the priest pops some shields and we just clear a room in 1 pull. we don’t do it EVERY time, because it’s guaranteed to drain all our mana, but on occasion its fun!
