Even after they announce it’ll work like dragonriding in 10.2.5, it still isn’t just dragonriding.
WHY??
What is so wrong about no cooldown like every other mount??
Why is it druids get instant cast flight no problem and Worgen get cast time ground mounts no problem, but Dracthyr still have to be gimped and can’t just have the same exact dragonriding we have with mount as themselves??
Why do we have to keep Corrupt-a-Wishing this thing?
It has to be some limitation somewhere, honestly, I can’t think of any reason, other than it was implemented in such a restricted way that changing it alters code or something drastically, because there is zero reason why this wasn’t at launch. Its not unfair, its not a balance thing, its perfectly logical, and I’m not a massive immersion kind of guy, but its so goofy having a dracthyr ride a dragon.
Just treat it like a mount, let the dracthyr fly properly.
That’s what I was thinking that it may have been their first iteration or something and changing it breaks something.
They could put the CD to 1 second though and it would kind of be ok without breaking anything? Or a half second? Idk if that’s how that works but /shrug
I’m not super worried about it yet, it depends on the cd. Tbh I’m holding off any judgement other than “FINALLY” until ptr. It could also be related to the dynamic flying toggle? Maybe Soar for those who have dynamic flying off will work like any flying mount.
Soar not working like Dragonriding was easily Dracthyr’s biggest missed opportunity. Hopefully they actually allow it to function like it was meant to, but time will tell.
Good grief, I didn’t read all the tweets associated with that when I read it hours ago. Still has a cooldown? Why? What is literally the point of a Dragon like race, that has wings, if they can’t fly when they want to? Might as well make an Elf Mage/Warlock that uses the Sandstone Drake mount exclusively, that way you can actually role play as a Dragon that visages into a mortal race for combat.
Heck, why an Elf? Chromie’s Visage is a cute lil’ Gnome. Sandstone Drake + Any playable race and you can basically be a Dragon that only fights in Visage form.
Dracthyr is just one massive disappointment at this stage. They look ridiculous on other mounts, unless you enter Visage form. But then, what is even the point of a Dragon like race if the Visage has too much benefit for you aesthetically? And the main drawback for Dracthyr, at least for me, is that they’re class locked into Evoker, potentially forever. I mean, kudos to those that like the class, but it just does not interest me. My Dracthyr is just gonna sit unused as a character to reserve the name for when Blizzard finally removes their head from their rear and opens up more classes for Dracthyr. Which, again, may never come.
Now that Soar is getting the “Dragonriding” treatment, but still keeps a cooldown, albeit, shorter? Blizzard, may I suggest something? Give Worgen’s “Running Wild” ability a drawback too! Like maybe that, once you are running wild, you remain that way for 10 minutes. While we’re at it, make the Druid’s Travel Form an hour long buff (that you can’t cancel) with a 24 hour cooldown. Once a Druid enters Travel Form, they will remain in that form because they forgot themselves temporarily.
What? It doesn’t make sense for Worgens or Druids to have such stupid drawbacks? NEITHER DOES SOAR WITH A COOLDOWN!
I will still take this over what we have now. I would have preferred no cooldown, yeh, but at least I will be able to stay up when I am up there.
Although there is the chance that the lowered cooldown might be for areas we haven’t explored yet, and that the combination of dragonriding talents and exploring an area would bring that cooldown down to zero.
