has anyone else noticed this? why did blizzard lower the development budget so much for shadowlands? it’s so sad. feels like WoW is now an afterthought for ActiBlizz. We are just a bunch of old folk whom actiblizz wants to nickle and dime while putting out low effort expansions
Because the devs were busy crawling around the office sexually harassing their female employees whilst drunk.
No, not a single person. You are the very first to have a problem with Shadowlands. You are a visionary - nay, a pioneer! We should all look to you for guidance in both gaming and our everyday lives.
Was that what you were looking for?
Because the developers are more interested in a paycheck rather than being passionate about the game. Like the old developers were.
While I agree Shadowlands is bad could you be more specific about what you think is cheap or seems underdeveloped?
I promise, the old developers where primarily working at Blizzard for a paycheck. They also killed the game…I’m not sure why everyone puts them up on such a high pedestal
Um…have you noticed its been that way for awhile? Content zones have been dropping in number for a long while. Heck in Wrath…Ice Crown alone has almost as much content of all of SL
Wrath was peak WoW. If you can’t see that you are blind.
The same developers that made Wraith were still in charge while the game literally purged MILLIONS of subs.
I noticed it in beta, i was like man its gonna be a bad expack… i mean theres like nothing to do in SL at all… BFA M+ was so good and even the raids, we had visions later on and islands … what do we have in SL Korthia lol ?
No, their not. It’s literally documented that nearly all of the og developers are long gone.
In fact one of the last “old” developers to leave did a video on the fact that all of the development talent is long gone. He also highlighted how there are no more class developers and that the developers that do remain are stretched super thin across multiple classes and other areas of the game.
To quote PCGamer Magazine…
WotLK is the closest Blizzard has come to actually making you feel like a hero, the protagonist of your own adventure, and since then it’s actually rushed off in the other direction, shining the spotlight on its NPCs
Wrath didn’t have monks and was overrated
If SL was lower budget than BfA then it’s probably because BfA came right after a super popular expansion and SL didn’t
Yes, long gone now. But they were still there between the end of Wraith and WoD which is when the game lost 50%-75% of its players
R.O.I
Unfortunately blizzard had stack of problems since before SL was spose to launch (BLM,Covid,Sexual harassment, and bugs) Shadowlands had great launch but problems I listed above plagued the game. People… the community brought there problems in the game and rain havoc as well. It caused delays and stop production for countless months for any real improvement. Since then things are now finally getting back in motion with content and etc.
I’m not a huge fan of the “chosen one” trope. I loved just being your slightly above average adventurer who was just along for the ride with the story and joined up with others (as well as major lore NPCs) to take down the big bads.
Leveling 1-50 in kul tiras/zandalar and then going to shadowlands is quite the whiplash. not only are the zones, cities, mobs, etc vastly more interesting and grand in scale but the raids as well. Uldir and Battle of dazar’alor specifically just completely eclipse shadowlands first two raids.
Then I fear what kind of trainwreck 10.0 will be.
Shadowlands is bad because of Black Lives Matter? lol okay
They were doing that in wrath it seems too so…
lets pretend wrath has new graphics to look BFA/SL ish. back to square 1…
