Why is Sap so inconsistent?

Whenever i’m playing my Rogue i figure that sap’s incapacitate is very weak, in terms of ensuring skips, yes sap has no cooldown like Demon Hunters Imprison, but if you walk near a sapped enemy and you enter combat, the sapped enemy will enter in combat with you as well, its a very weird incapacitate that keeps the enemy line of sight working, its better to frost trap an enemy or imprison instead of sap, and i’m wondering why’s that? i think sap should be as consistent as any incapacitate or “skip cc”.

Its not like it doesn’t work, it does, but there’s room for mistakes and even though it almost never happen, there’s the possibility that an “skip” can turn into a bossfight with tons of trash.

Mobs standing next to each other are usually linked regardless of CC on them. Once what ever CC breaks the mob will come after you if you killed his friend.

I mean you killed the dudes friend, of course he’s going to come after you.

Joke aside I see no problems with sap It’s one of the only CC that keeps the mobs out of combat even if you stand on top of them.

No i mean, even if there’s a solo mob, you sap them and while being visible, walk in front of them, if sap is over even if you’re far from his aggro range you’ve already entered combat with them, that means they’re still in combat even while sapped, which is weird form an mmorpg standpoint for a mob to be “sapped” and still with full 20/20 line of sight

Because the NPC still has the capability to aggro, retail and classic share the same mechanism. I think it was a full CC pre legion, but Blizzard nerfs and changes things because rogues were having fun.

No no, its been like that since classic, they’ve never changed it, that’s the intention of this post, to point out something that is not intuitive or break the immersion of the RPG elements of the game, i feel a “sapped” “incapacitated” target, shouldn’t be able to have line of sight or aggro meters while cc’d.

Ok, maybe there’s a cone of vision like if you’re in front of the target it can aggro. I typically try and sap and make sure I’m behind the target because well, rogues do it from behind.

Yeah i do that as well, but still the point of the post is to bring out something that maybe was overlooked and suggesting that for an rpg standpoint it doesn’t make sense. Incapacitated targets should not be able to enter combat unless broken by damage.

I could have swore this is how things were after Cata, but hey maybe I was just really good about not getting in front of targets, I am a rogue after all…

well i could do a try on classic to check if it was like that since vanilla

its 100% that way in Classic, and was in vanilla. Where you can aggro a mob if you are even near it after sap goes off if you dont have imp sap.
