Oh lord that scared me. I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to go back and get the skeletor-dino mount.
Archeology takes way too long to skill up for the meager rewards it offers.
Maybe its just that we all spell it “archeology” instead of “archaeology” and so our feedback gets misrouted?
Sorry, let me fix that so I don’t give anyone else a heart attack. LOL
I think this is what turns me off the most, honestly. I do enjoy it though when I get around to doing it.
I mean, do you find fishing boring? I personally enjoy fishing in WoW because it’s relaxing. Is it my favorite thing to do? No. But I do enjoy it. Same concept with surveying.
Fishing can be soothing because you’re in 1 spot.
Surveying though is mount-move-survey-mount-move-survey-mount-move-survey-mount-move-survey-mount-move-survey-mount-move-survey-…
Often while navigating cliffs and other obstacles.
No, I don’t think anyone finds that relaxing. Nor enjoyable.
GD Users Stop Telling Other People What They Like Challenge 2022.
I enjoy it.
I don’t believe you do, no. /shrug
That’s not my problem. /shrug
Maybe if you had a bunch more archaeology achievements, it might be believable. But without that or some other kind of evidence, I think you’re just claiming it to be contrarian.
And I think Blizzard agrees with me. Hence: No Archaeology.
They’ve got the numbers, they know how little arch people actually do.
Blizz seems to have a complete inability to recognize what assets are actually valuable to WoW.
I didn’t know achievements were an indicator of enjoyment. But I DO have them. And I actually did the Legion quest just last week.
Or, and here’s a real mindblower for ya: maybe accept that people like things you don’t?
If anyone’s being contrarian in this exchange, it’s not Taivora.
Elder Scrolls Online has a system quite a lot like WoW archaeology. Theirs is for obtaining the highest grade of equipment, so it is highly used. WoW archaeology only gives a few achievement points. There’s no way to get anything of value out of it besides very old cosmetics, so it is not widely used.
blehhgh…
They really need to remove racial abilities and just turn them into Feats that Players can then select as a Major/Minor feat. That would completely fix the racial ability problem WoW has.
Flavor be damned, it’s been a balance and population issue since the beginning of WoW it’s long time they fixed that problem.
You have the low-hanging fruit, same as me, same as everybody else posting in this thread. It’s all pretty consistent.
There isn’t anybody in this thread who has a ginormous chunk of the Arch achievements that would justify a claim of “I really enjoy doing surveying”.
(and I’ve been checking!)
Again, archaeology: Neat in concept, horrid in execution. If they can dust it off without the surveying mechanic, count me in. And a bunch of other folks, too, I’d wager.
ESO has a lot of flaws but they also have several systems that prove WoW is sleeping on things that could allow for compelling player engagement. The scrying/archaeology and the housing recipe system both come to mind.
I resubbed to ESO when scrying came out and got a gross amount of pleasure out of running around collecting useful items.
I think that’s seriously just your opinion. And I enjoy fishing but I don’t have a gazillion fishing achievements, now do I? Nowhere did I say I really enjoy doing either. BUT I do find them relaxing.
I mentioned earlier in this thread to someone else that the RNG aspect is what I least like about archeology. So if there is ANYTHING stopping me from doing arch, it’s the RNG nature. And it doesn’t help that I’ve been pouring the crates into trying to get the Sandstone Drake recipe. I am not a grinder when RNG is so prevalent, so once I get frustrated, I focus on something else. This applies to ALL achievements for me. It also applies to mounts, pets, mogs, and toys.
