Why is resto shaman so boring?

I just levelled my Zandalari Resto Sham to 50 (heritage armor baby!)

I only enjoy healing as a Resto Druid but I have too many of those (and Warriors) so I decided to do Resto Sham and it was really boring if I’m being honest.

Without the constant game of managing a myriad of heal over times across the entire party while spamming regrowth on the tank, how does one have fun while healing?

Not as bad as the snoozefest that is Resto Druid

Why complain about dps on a healing class. If you wanna dps, play dps?

after maining a shaman from MoP to Early BFA I can almost 100% confidently tell you that Shaman is a meme class and blizzard doesn’t care about or know what to do with them

I dps a lot with my resto Shaman. And since you asked…

My main currently is my Vulpera Restoration Shaman. Main thing I like about R Shaman is the chain heal and healing rain so I can heal my group up very well, it is great for raids as you can prevent wipes with some of the totems. I’d suggest getting your character to a high enough level, play some dungeons or do some of the trials at the temple of the white tiger to get a good feeling for the class! Most important thing is just finding a healer that suits your playstyle, not everything is for everyone!

Protip: very few classes feel the same leveling as they do at endgame. To judge one by the other is bonkers.

Yeah, kinda too early to tell how viable it will be for real content. Will be fun as hell either way though.

This thread SUCKS

The difficulty ramps up as you do higher level keys. There will be times when you have god tier tanks and when you won’t. Level dungeons aren’t a way to get an accurate feel for how the class will be end game.

Having gotten a shaman to 1400io in four days before post-season it was an okay class to play for me, haven’t really played it since the changes.

I feel like one of us is taking crazy pills. Cause I get to dps just fine as a resto shaman. Keep in mind, that our mastery heals for more, the lower health the target is. Thus you don’t have to keep your tank topped off every second of the encounter. You can let them get to half health with out to much worry, unless you’re struggling to keep up in general (due to being under geared for the content , that goes for you or the tank) or you know the fight mechanics are going to be punishing for the tank, and thus need to keep them high on health to eat certain mechanics.

We have so many options to deal with so many different situations, that if you’re not having fun on a resto shaman idk what to tell you. You’re clearly missing some series element of the shaman game play, if you’re just spamming heals none stop.

Resto shammy is my fave healer of the lot. I really enjoy it. As someone said, it has such great utility. You absolutely should be able to dps, if you want to and key if you want to and can judge best when.

You clearly don’t know the spec well. Stack 3x IP traits and put flame shock on a target… Resto shaman have the highest single target dps of any healer. Great on tyrannical weeks. On trash you have to weave in flame shocks and lava surge procs between heals.

You know you got totems right. Dropping cap totem with static charge is one of my favorite things + using earthen wall. If you’re just chain heal + rain spamming then yeah it’d be boring

As a healer main who has played them all I agree Shaman is the most boring and my least favorite to lol everyone likes different things

ok furry boi

Resto shaman can be a bit zzzz in m+ that’s for sure. But it, like every other class, has things to min max. You got flame shock and lava burst obviously, spammable purge, windshear, an aoe slow, it definitely has a fair bit of buttons. But I think resto shaman is the most fun in arena. Being a healer with an interrupt and grounding totem itself is very fun and feels good.

Healing surge will be your emergency heal combined with unleash life. I dont know how you’re casting without moving, unleash life and riptide ought to be your bread and butter with all other instant utility spells, totems are gold use them. Flame shock on has many targets as you can keep it up, and have fun blasting instant cast lava burst :D. Healing rain and cloudburst totem up at all times.
Itll take some practice but you shouldn’t be casting spells with cast times that often. Like that’s when your in trouble. Use spirit walkers grace as much as you can especially if you have the cooldown down to 1 min. Earthen shield is gold.
Instant casts my friend, and occasional healing waves.
And your dps when in a group should just be lava burst/flame shock, and your lightning or chain lightning that’s it.
Edit: and wind shear, ranged interrupt.

I love the idea of playing a shaman, but can never get into it. It’s always so slow and there’s a lot of setup involved to drop healing rain, cloudburst, and unleash life before you can start the chain healing.

I am leveling a resto shaman now too and found them to be fun. I suppose it all depends on the individual.
