Not much you can do as a priest if your druid/shamans are not using their movement spells to help classes without decent mobility to handle the annihilation. Best thing you can do is just run straight at the wall and use your instant casts for the duration, you surviving the annihilation is far more important then greeding a flash heal etc to try save a greedy dps. or like said above you can use the ports but personally they can “lag” out and you end up dying for no reason.
Practice…
did your group not have enough healers? general rule is to have 1 healer per 5 people.
was your group just taking a bunch of avoidable damage, causing you to have to spam constantly just to keep them from dying?
203 is enough to get into heroic raiding, maybe its the talents? might try swapping Trail of Light for Enlightenment, Afterlife for Cosmic Ripple, and Surge of Light for Prayer Circle. also maybe try dropping some haste for Vers and Crit.
also, it’ll take a while to do, but maybe swapping out the legendary for either the same one but as a neck piece (higher stats) or going for the Harmonious Apparatus legendary on shoulders.
If they were spam healing to prevent people from dying, I don’t think they would have done 2.4k hps. It sounds like the issue is that they were so overwhelmed they barely healed anything.
I don’t think this is really it, though. Even if OP ISN’T cut out for raid healing, I don’t know how they’d be able to determine that from their first heroic run.
OP, I recommend finding a mentor of sorts-- granted, I don’t know much about holy priest, or I’d offer
. I highly recommend tweaking your UI to make it easier for you. I would say keep at it. Review logs. Consult the Priest Discord/website. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we all had to learn at some point. Also, CN H was HARD for me at 203, too.
Best of luck!
I agree I spoke prematurely, I retracted that comment once I looked at OP’s profile and saw they’d barely even stepped foot into normal raid before.
There was one healer that was doing 5k, which means I was hard carried or the druid was super geared.
HPS isn’t read like dps.
Ever.
Just too many other factors involved outside of raw healing.
Also, unless things have changed, druids will probably always be a bane.
Also, you should probably stick to normal mode for now. Heroic might be out of your league.
(I’m sure someone has the link to me explaining this some years ago.)
If I recall, there’s a way to turn other people’s spells down in the interface.
I just wish I knew more about holy priest. I want to help! ![]()
Most of my raid experience is healing raids. It can be pretty hectic. But it’s only difficult if you are vastly undergeared or if your raid team is really bad at taking avoidable damage.
I know in the past, in almost every raid I’ve ever been in there was always at least ONE person who just didn’t move out of anything. And at different points in different expansions I have raided up to heroic difficulty.
But I don’t raid much these days because challenge doesn’t excite me. It never did! I just wanted the loot.
So the trick for annihilation is that the people who are targeted for the portals to drop need to put one in the center and one on the edge of the room.
That way, when annihilation goes off, you get sucked into the portal and teleported outside the boom.
Usually you should have a druid for roars for annihilation. It helps that you position yourself on the corner of the room too but on heroic the mechanic is stronger than on normal.
I would save soulshape when I know I wont make it and roar is on CD.
As for healing don’t give up, check guides… ask for advice and specially don’t be too hard on yourself if it’s your first time.
Good luck.
You can’t heal through annihilation…that’s not your problem. Annihilation is all about individually surviving. The timing can be tricky, takes practice. You cannot rely on soulshape alone, you need to time the portals.
This right here.
I used to have people begging me to go heal hard modes back in the day. I honestly hated it and finally just got to a point in which I was like “I don’t wanna.” I just wasn’t comfortable with some of the mechanics.
But the difference here: I was geared for it AND I mostly knew the fights (normal had become farm content for me). I just wasn’t into the harder modes.
First time healing a heroic and you did bad so ur ready to give up, dude it takes practice to get good at this, you can’t expect to just be good the first time. As for the “overwhelming” amount of stuff on the ground it may seem like that the 1st time but go in again it won’t seem so “overwhelming” and less “overwhelming” each time you do it.
I don’t wanna be a dead weight, you feel me? They might not bring me to heroic again if I made a bad impression
Go to your graphic settings and turn off all non-essential spell effects.
Everyone is dead weight the first time they do heroic, you will learn and get better.
You’ve got so few facts here tho. So off of what you shared it’s not easy to make a call for you.
I will say, fellow Proudmoordian, heroics can feel hard. It’s supposed to be a challenge or everyone would do it.
Afterlife isn’t the best (most recommended talent. I prefer Guardian Angel on my h priest. It enables me to use the ability more often which can help with group survivability - even if you cast it on yourself. Also, Prayer Circle is a good choice in lieu of Surge of Light - but SoL is pretty fun.
Essentially, play around with talents - sometimes your talents can gimp you.
Edited: For Xymox, use your Angelic feathers talent and you’ll never even go IN annihilation.
