Why does Power Word: Radiance heal for like 3x more than Prayer of Healing?
I know the point you’re trying to make, but as a Disc Priest, we need that bit of burst healing. Most of our healing is pretty gradually sustained. Radiance, Inescapable Torment, and Essence Devourer are kind of the big 3 tools we have to recover after a big damage event. Not to mention PW: Radiance is only 2 charges.
Definitely doesn’t excuse the state Prayer of Healing is in. But this spell is more like a consistent heal, rather than a burst type heal. So it’s hard to compare the two.
PoH has been bad since BFA ended.
During BFA you stacked azerite traits that buffed PoH + insane mastery and just spammed PoH in raid. The amount of Echo of Light healing you did with PoH was silly because it’d be like 10% PoH actual healing and 90% Echo of Light.
Blizzard didn’t like that and wanted to nerf spammable raid heals like Chain Heal/PoH so they gutted those in SL.
And that’s really how it’s been since then. PoH hasn’t had its scaling/mana costs touched nor has it been reworked at all.

I’m just astounded at what happened to renew.
The only time I actually played some holy priest was in s2 when they added empowered renew. And I could just heal with renew spam, juiced coh’s, and pom and abuse the tier set holy word charges from all the renews. It was super fun.
Why would they remove empowered renew lol. Also I miss the old lightwell HOT, not this wimpy bolt + limp renew

Because BLZ wants you to play Lightwaver. 
It’s because only a few people actually put points into Empowered Renew/Rapid Recovery and it was better to put Miracle Worker there instead imho.
The issue Renew is facing now wouldn’t be fixed by those talents because it’s scaling is quite frankly ridiculously low and it’s healing is also tuned mainly around Holy Word Salvation and Healing Chorus.
I mean true, but 40% more would still be better than what it does now.
