Why is one of my pets always ghostly?

I’m a Level 62 Beastmaster, and can summon 2 pets at the same time. The pet I leave in the first slot at the Stable Master always comes out looking solid, with its shape and colors sharp and clear, while the pet that I actually summon always looks ghostly. I think it occasionally morphs into its solid version, but most of the time remains ghostly. This seems to happen to any pet I summon, no matter what its original shape/version was at the time I tamed it. Why is this happening? How do I fix this? Is this related to any talent I might have picked up?

Any help would be much appreciated!

The only thing I can think of is you have pets that have the stealth ability. Cats, spirit beast I think do. If it is happening with pets outside of those families I really have no idea.

I do have a couple of stealthy pets. But why would all my other pets exhibit that feature?

Even when I don’t put a pet in the first Stable Master slot, any pet I summon, even a non-stealthy one, will now display the stealth shape.

Only when I set those non-stealthy pets in the first Stable Master slot (making them the second summoned pet) will they appear in their normal, non-stealth forms.

Here’s a screen capture showing my character with her 2 “Gon” raptors. They’re identical, except one is in the Stable Master’s first slot, and shows as normal. The other is one of the five pets that my BM can carry around and summon, and exhibits a stealth form (which I don’t think the beast normally has).

Your regular pet, the ghostly one, the one in your active slots(you can bring with you), the reason it looks like that is most likely because you have Spirit Walk on auto-cast.

Spirit Walk is a pet family exclusive ability, tied to the Spirit Beast family. You can find it in the spellbook for your pet, a separate tab in the interface. If you don’t want the pet to use the ability, simply right click it so the glowy effect around the border disappears. If your pet is already in stealth mode from using the ability, you need to also make the pet attack something, to bring it out of stealth.

The reason the one which you’ve placed in the stables(Animal Companion slot) looks “normal” is because it can’t use any family abilities.

The only abilities your Animal Companion can use are:
:black_small_square:︎ Auto Attacks
:black_small_square:︎ Kill Command
:black_small_square:︎ Stomp
:black_small_square:︎ Beast Cleave attacks(passive, activated when you use Multi-Shot)

Have you taken it into pvp?
Taking pets into arena tends to reset them to base statistics removing deep set glitches .(even ones we wanted to keep like the sword in the face of huntmaster)

Just an idea, I think it is kinda cool though. You should make ghost versions of the new pets… a ghost otter sounds cool af

This was perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for coming here to post. Thank you very very much. All my questions are answered. I put all my Pet spells into an action bar, sic’d my stealthed pet onto a mob, and voila, it’s now back to its normal appearance. Fantastic. I’ll have to see when I’ll want to use the Spirit Walk spell, if ever, because the 50% speed reduction it comes with is kind of off-putting. But that’s why I love Beastmaster so much, it’s always fun to hunt for those cool beasts, tame, and play with them.

Once again, thanks for your help!
