Why is no one asking for character clones to era?

I was really really hoping to be able to clone my nearly full BIS toon to era and also send him to TBC. Sucks to grind Naxx for a couple months and then have all your gear worthless again. I really am not seeing very many people mad that they wont allow copies like this and i dont understand why. Wouldnt blizzard make a bunch of money charging for them? I dont understand the reasoning for not allowing this, theyre allowing transfers why not copies? charge extra idgaf. I would have for sure bought a clone, but as is im just going to TBC like everyone else, and blizzard loses money.

Feel for and agree with the OP 100%.

It was stated at its launch that Vanilla-Anni would not transition to Era.

I’m surprised they’re even allowing transfers.

Is this your toon you use to like/bump your other posts with?

Spamming the same message on multiple threads is against the rules. Hopefully something is done about this.

The real question is… why didn’t they just use the already existing era servers and reset some of the dead ones as fresh?

We did. When they posted the announcement, the forums were heavily spammed with people asking for clones. Now that they’ve opened the door for transfers, the odds of cloning getting added are near zero.

Despite the forums being spammed, it was simply ignored. They couldn’t even be bothered to respond. It’s not a matter of “they can’t” as many suggested- it was that they couldn’t be bothered to deal with it. But disappointing its players and failing to communicate with its classic subscribers is just another day at Blizzard HQ.

Why are redditors constantly baffled by search functions?

this was never stated

and blizzard, we need clone service! at least address it to the community

I don’t feel like digging it up for you but I’m pretty sure something to the effect was said.

Blizzard wants you to transfer your Anniversary character to Era then buy the 58 boost. That’s why there is no clones.

This way they can tell the investors how well the 58 boost service is doing.

Loads of people have, myself included. Weird they’d do it first time with Era TBC, but not this time around with Anniversary TBC.

Doesn’t really make sense. I’d be cloning this character to Era then boosting an alt/farming toon. Now I’ll just be boosting an alt. Clones are just free money for them. People always have something they want to boost.

of course they could do it, but it’s more trouble than it’s worth :expressionless:

well for everyone like you, there’s 10 people who would either buy a clone or the expensive boost, but not both :expressionless:

I don’t think they ever said anything about where these characters would end up on launch.

In any event, their communication on this subject has been atrocious. So…typical Blizzard.

They can’t even be bothered to make a simple post explaining their reasoning for not offering clones. Whether it’s a design choice or a technical problem. My guess is they don’t have the time or resources to make it work. So in the standard treatment of Classic and its players: they do what’s simplest and easiest.

Heaps of people have been begging for clones my dude. Just that it seems the threads haven’t been bumped. It’s an extremely logical decision to have clones instead of transfers, and cloning is objectively better than boosting. If Blizzard allowed people to clone they would be able to keep their BiS’d out toons at their peak and continue on with them into TBC. It is a no-brainer. People did complain that economies on Era servers would get smashed but it’s as simple as limiting the amount of mats, gold, pots etc. people can take over to Era. It’s THAT simple.

Blizzard are absolute fools for not going with cloning instead of transferring. If people want to say “Well they make more with character boosts” then just charge more for the damn cloning service instead. The meme calling Blizzard a “small indie dev” company is an insult to small indie dev companies – they would put way more effort into customer service than Blizzard does. Blizzard are akin to career politicians who are so used to getting their regular taxpayer funded money they’ just do the bare minimum and can still afford their next investment property and superyacht.

The PvP and Normal PvE realms will also progress into Burning Crusade Classic!

Ok so you’re right…

They didn’t say that Anniversary wouldn’t transition to Era, but they’re clearly stating that Vanilla-Anniversary is transitioning to TBC-A and you would be incorrect to assume that there would be the possibility for copies from Anniversary to Era.

If you played Vanilla-Anniversary thinking you were going to keep everything going into Era and/or TBC-A, you were only deluding yourself.
