Why is my miss % always so high compared to other rogues with the exact same gear?

I am going through logs comparing to other Rogues, and some of them have like 10-15% less miss % on their regular melee attacks even though we have the same gear.

My miss % is so high.

I have the same gear as any other rogue and yet I miss all the time.

My last raid I missed 3 Envenoms in a row on the 2nd boss. It’s impossible to do well when you miss so much but it doesn’t make any sense to me.

It’s RNG…honestly the fact that they made it so we can’t soft cap is so dumb it hurts.

You probably don’t have the same gear.

Yes I do the exact same.

It’s RNG brother. You can even lose fights where you hit more generators just because theirs crits more.

One reason why I laugh at even trying to top parse. Most are cheesed/luck based.

Then how come some people are so consistent with their RNG?

I am looking at someone who just seems to have the greatest luck in the world.

Look at these. His Envenom and Instant Poison dps are way higher for some reason. I can’t figure out what I am doing different yet these people just seem to get way higher damage.

It’s RNG, wouldn’t get much worked up over it. Till we can cap hit it will be an RNG game.

Come 50-60 is when we will get 6% with our talents/gear so it will help a bit then. But then it will be about how many crits.

There is skill in your rotation but that only goes so far. Best to not get worked up over it.

Like I’m so chilling we got a shadow priest finally and I can drop IEA. Still haven’t raided though.

Do you have a log of yours I can look at to compare?

I posted them 2 up.

Please, tell me how to get my instant poison dps as high as these other rogues.

he plays combat for weapon skills ?

Basically you had one Envenom miss and only one crit while the other had no misses and 2 crits which lead to 50% more total Envenom damage.

It’s all RNG and good RNG is usually how you get 99/100 parses.

Correct me if I’m wrong as I’m a caster. But doesn’t where you stand matter? Is the other rogue behind the boss and you’re attacking its front / side maybe?

There are abilities that can only be used from behind an enemy, and attacking from behind eliminates the ability to parry or block an attack, but it doesn’t have anything to do with miss chance.

you aren’t pushing your buttons hard enough

You’re not going to get a meaningful sample size from a 50 second encounter.

This is why people hyperfixated on parses are cringe

Once you know how to press your buttons in the correct order with the right priority everything after that is just RNG and intentionally playing “wrong” to cheese parses

RNG to get the gear early
RNG on procs
RNG on crits
RNG on misses
RNG on your teammates compounding RNG to get marginally quicker kill times
Ignoring or “face tanking” mechanics you’re intended to avoid to squeeze out extra damage

It’s all just a convoluted statistic casino with very little skill expression once you’re past a certain baseline of knowing how to play the game

With many bosses lasting less than a minute, it all comes down to who has 1 extra miss or 1 extra crit. With 5+ minute bosses, the rng has more time to average out.

Is there anything you can do though?

Like, some people seem to have very low miss % on almost every single boss.

Does position matter? Behind boss? In front?

Does moving your character/standing still matter?

Because it’s clear that some people have figured out a way to miss a lot less than others, so they must be doing SOMETHING.

This is why SoD PvE doesn’t and shouldn’t be what matters to people.

Its literally all just RNG. It’ll be RNG at 50 and 60 too, even with full hit chance.

I can look when I get off work.

Too hard to look at logs on my phone
