Later expansions changed Mongoose Bite to not require dodge, so I could easy see some rune that removes the required dodge, with some other bonus of sorts.
Would be nice if it was something like you dodge, or your pet crits, so it was useable, then add a bit of a dmg buff and it might make it a nice ability for a melee focused hunter.

Thereâs no way for them to buff base class abilities like mongoose strike my friend.
Thereâs definitely a way, itâs more of a matter of whether or not they will.
Im sure with new runes and such melee hunters will be more playable in later phases like many other specs

They at least scale to an impactful point, mongoose doesnât even seem worth pressing.
Just another button to add to ur hot bar and never use, like disengage, scorpid sting, volley, and roll for greed

It really bites as an ability.
When I saw the interview where the developer said âHunter melee weaving is going to be big down the road!â I rerolled, who wanted that to be a thing???
About as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

They should add a secondary trait like a bleed or debuff on the target to reduce DMG, inc miss chance or armor reduction to incentivise the hunter to stay in melee.
Welcome to classic where Mongoose Bite was the difference in pvp. It prevents rogue sprints, shammy wolves and druid dashing. Especially in warsong gulch.
And in pve it made it easy to mongoose, raptor then hit cheetah and kite.
Donât discount skills in a toolkit, and look at the potential it brings to the table and how it can be key in a variety of situations.
