Why is 'Master Angler of Azeroth' in the fishing meta-achievement?

I get why meta-achievements are there, and I get why the tournament is an achievement just by itself. Achievements are supposed to show the amount of work and dedication you put into the game and give you rewards based on those trials. The problem is you don’t stand a chance of getting this achievement unless you have an entire guild and more backing you. I’ve been at this for about 6 months now every Sunday (and Saturday now) and I am nowhere closer to winning this. The only way to win this on a large server, it seems, is to pay off others to mess with the people you’re up against. This being the only way to win means it is no longer how much work but how much gold you have to offer. Metas are supposed to be hard, but this achievement is nigh impossible in modern WoW and I purpose it to be removed from the ‘Accomplished Angler’ fishing achievement. Let me know what you think.

It just goes to show that having a huge player base on your server is a double edged sword.

It didn’t seem that hard, honestly. I’ve won the BB tourney twice (and was eligible to win a third time, at one point) and I didn’t get any additional assistance from people.

Still don’t have that achieve to catch a rare fish though.

I got this achievement on Faerlina (mega-server). Why are you even questioning this lol

I got this achievement on my main (Pourrire) and 3 of my alts from winning the STV contest in TBC. And ive done it twice on two of them to get the fishing rod and fish trinket.

But the WOTLK fishing contest? Good lord f that. It’s RNG to hell and you dont know if someone got the shark until you hearth back to Dal.

I just ask my non-participating friends to afk in Dalaran during the tourny to pass along start/end times.

I think this sounds like an incredibly tedious waste of time for a title no one cares about but to each their own.

The Kaluak Fishing durby is RNG.
The STV fishing tourny is just luck that no one attacks you and good RNG.

I’ve won the STV fishing tourny twice, have Accomplished Angler it isn’t hard it’s just RNG.

Also people win it every week so saying it’s impossible is quite hyperbolic.

Here’s a tip, don’t fish in Stormwind, fish near Goldshire.

Salty, best title.

Can’t tell if there’s a joke I’m missing here, why would I have been fishing in Stormwind?

It’s advise, I thought that it drops there and later found out that it doesn’t. It drops rare fish, just not the fish you’d want.

Ah. I’ve been trying Fangtooth Herring Schools, since the Dark Herring can randomly replace a Fangtooth Herring, plus the chance at the Sea Turtle

Ah, I wasn’t aware of the Dark Herring dropping from that.

Sea Turtle is pretty cool, it’s so unique… for now at least.

If only more players knew what lulz the fishing tournament is for World PVP.

They eventually made this achievement completable by the top 50 each week due to all the cross realm stuff.

Mega servers do the same thing to the population, but without that correction.

I feel your pain, friend (it’s my last achievement before the salty title). Last week had a scarab Lord following me around the STV tournament effectively halving both of our catches.

One day…

It was broken pretty much the entirety of tbc where you could have a winner every 10 minutes because the turn in guy kept resetting. I’m surprised you never won it then if you have been after it for 6 months.

Was pretty common knowledge too. Only recently with wrath release does it seem to be fixed.

I really don’t get this view, like I can’t do something that is hard or tough, or even RNG, so therefore it must be changed. There is no requirement that you HAVE to be able to get it. It’s a tough title to get and therefore fairly rare, and it should be kept that way.

Imagine my shock when I got my shiny Dread Pirate Ring two weekends ago. I thought the tournament was bugged like so many other things in the game. I wasn’t seeing the announcements for the start and finish of the Kaluak derby, so I was thinking maybe everyone doing it was “winning” it, cuz no way I’d win three weekends into Wrath having maxed my fishing the Friday before the derby I won.

If it’s any consolation, I’m well over a thousand casts into Northrend schools with no turtle.
