It was never a problem before, and only when one specific M+ season played to our strengths was it nerfed.
It really feels like players are being punished for the dev’s lack of foresight.
I would wager most people (including the Devs) forgot Mass Dispel even existed.
And let’s be real, it’s not like priest as a class was over here just overflowing with utility. Pretty much any other healer has more abundant and better options.
Are you sure about that? It might have been a problem if anyone took shadow priests to M+ prior to DF…but they didn’t.
Mass dispel trivializes a lot of stuff, though. And presumably makes it harder for them to implement balanced/fair magic debuffs when they know that one class (either dps or healer) can completely negate it single-handedly.
Primarily Raids, not M+, is why it’s on a 2 min CD as you could just flat out ignore major mechanics by having the entire raid (or affected people) stack.
S2 of DF had a lot of dispellable magic debuffs that would go on most/all of the party all at once, and a well-timed MD deleted the mech
i heard a lot of people theorize that increasing the cd was a part of trying to dismantle the god comp in s2.
if thats the case, plan failed because the dps portion of that comp is alive and well
I tend to suspect that’s what it was. Problem with that though is Shadow wasn’t brought to that comp for MD. It was brought because it had high damage coupled with double power infusion which could buff itself and the fire mage, both of which were further buffed by Augmentation Evokers. In addition to mind soothe for skips.
MD wasn’t carrying that comp, it was just a bystander in it that happened to be useful for one season.
It never will be necessary. Any situation that requires dispels will always be designed for any healer to handle it.
Where exactly? Everyone keeps parroting this but there aren’t any specific situations where MD breaks the game. Any healer can handle any dispel situation because Blizz won’t design any encounter to require Mass Dispel.
