i see it was important enough to be mentioned in the patch plan but it’s just a mid level dungeon it’s not really endgame if i remember correctly
Contains some pre raid bis.
Contains preraid BiS, and an infinite gold source for Kwong from Hong Kong.
Not really a big deal tbh.
Gold farming and has a bis pre raid ring for many physical dps classes.
With that and DM tribute releasing separate I will be able to sell the runs for both as they are available as I can solo them on a hunter.
Pre-raid BiS aside, I was under the impression that the reason Blizzard felt the need to mention it is because Maraudon is technically not a release dungeon.
The game released in patch 1.1, and Mara was added in 1.2.
What sab said. Mara got put in the first patch after release
But I mean who was even 60 and raiding by the time Mauradon was released? That one guy that got the Talisman of the Binding Shard?
99.999% of vanilla players never step foot in a raid before Mauradon was released. Didn’t it come out like 3 months after release?
Patch 1.2 was on December 18, 2004 which is just under a month after launch.
Most players probably weren’t even a high enough level to run Maraudon when it came out.
It wouldn’t be until January 20 that the world first Lucifron kill happened, so basically nobody was raiding at that time =P
So there ya have it. Might as well just start with it.
Yea I think it was just mentioned since it wasn’t in the game when vanilla was launched but there is no real reason why it wouldn’t/shouldn’t be included for Classic launch.
Mara gold farming was bonkers as a hunter. I’ve heard stories of some making 70g an hour at peak efficiency. Not sure if this is the answer you’re looking for, but it’s important to some due to the amount of gold you can make from it!
Bc the end boss (Princess) is one of the hottest female characters in the game.
She could also probably be a male…
But that’s neither here nor there.
I too like 'em thicc
Can you imagine?
Up until then, you’ve barely seen an epic, if ever at all. Then this boss dies and drops like three of them and a new skill you’ve never heard of.
Hmm If u had the best luck for 5 runs in a row, yes sure. But the avg is more like 30-40g/h.
Also stating per hour is misleading since u can only run 5 runs an hour.
I’m skeptical of this figure as well. I have never personally achieved anywhere near 70g per hour on my less-than optimal lvl 60 hunter.
Just stories/cases I’ve been told by guildies.
Begone, Satan.
A bit off topic, but Maraudon is one of my early WoW memories. I have no idea why, but at some point I pugged the dungeon on a Saturday as a druid healer. I don’t remember which level I was, but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t 60, as I started the game for the first time maybe five months after release.
The tank was this little gnome warrior with pink hair and she used some sort of mug for a weapon. None of us had any idea what we’re doing, but something like six hours later (the dungeon was sprawling and we got lost a lot and had to deal with respawns) and we finished. Tons of deaths and runbacks and not a person quit.
But what was really shocking was running through all those tunnels for hours and hours and then coming to that open space in Maraudon with the waterfall and diemetradons before the final stretch. It was magical and huge and green and OPEN unlike the rest of the dungeon; I hadn’t experienced anything like it gaming before. It really made a mark.
barely any
all i can think of off the top of my head is the ring, and heart of noxxion which isn’t even relevant until the AQ gates open
