Why is Male Human/Female Elf pairing so popular?

Okay I’ll admit we’re humans, and we all attracted to beauty and sexiness. But man I saw these pairing everywhere, from Tolkien’s to WoW. Is that we can’t have an Elf damsel in real life so we put it in fantasy as a replacement, or it’s all about Human’s pride?

Most guys would kill to have a hot elven girlfriend… course I’d imagine it’s a lot less fun on the other end watching as yet another husband/toy dies off and you’re just middle of the road.

Because fantasy literature has taught us that humans will get down with anything.
Human + Horse = Centaur
Human + Cow = Minotaur

The list goes on.

It’s an old trope that’s been around during Lord of the Rings, maybe even more older than that. Most popularly is Aragorn and Arwen from the Tolkien series. Also it’s likely the easiest to work with. You don’t see Elf and Minotaur though In some places Orc and Elf is extremely popular.

It’s been around about as long as elves - in all their incarnations - have been around.

Devs/authors/directors are human, elves are sexy. Its wish fulfillment.

Human Potential™ is literally saying that humans win or are better than other races, that are clearly superior in one or many ways, simply because they are human. They arent strong, smart, long lived, or talented… but they could be… maybe…eventually.

So when an army of super strong, magically talented, long lived, and brilliant races descend on a paltry human army, the humans will win because they tried hard or some such.

Cant have humans losing in a game, book, movie thats geared towards humans watching it.

Oh, one more thing. Having a wife that never ages is also a pretty sweet fantasy. So that probably plays a role.

I really enjoy Aragorn/Arwen arc back then, but this kind of pairing should be limited to more important characters.

I personally hate elfs, sorry I said it. Ever since the community started going elf crazy and crying about high elfs even though they had void elfs it kinda started my hatred towards them.

Considered most of players are in their “middle” age and many are still single (like me), i can understand why :frowning:

My opinion is its as close to getting to forbidden fruit as you possibly can without people looking at you weird.

I don’t hate all elfs, I actaully really like void elf’s because they are very unique. Besides being a clone of blood elf’s, they have enough lore to pass as a existing race. I think I just dislike high, blood, and night elf’s.
