Why is Magni so angry? This is a problem with WoW’s storytelling…

Last I seen him he was still a happy dude but now he is all tsundere and “it’s not like I like you, Azeroth!”

Something probably happened offscreen in some novel or something, but his personality changed a whole 180 since the last time I heard him speak.

I feel that this is one of the problems of this game’s storytelling. Things happen offscreen and I am expected to follow along like that.

Because he has all those teeth and no toothbrush.

You’d probably be a little miffed if the only person you really talked to on the regular suddenly ghosted you too.

He knows about the memes!

I miss “CHAmPIoN!!” Magni.

I have no idea what happened to him because I’m not about to buy more stuff to understand the game I play.

There sure are gaps, giant and numerous gaps, in the way they tell their character stories. But, heres hoping for better quality from TWW onward

The way I understood that quest is that he feels like Azeroth abandoned him. Also salty about being a diamond man and missing human…err… dwarf touch. But it still felt out of left field.

He’s frustrated. His life essentially got hijacked to be the speaker of Azeroth. He embraced it and did his part. And now when the world is crying out for help he’s not being kept in the loop. He’s just been left in the lurch.

Now imagine the literal planet sending you that text.

There may be more books in game. I know there is an achievement for reading books in game that give a desk toy. I am pretty hype for that, I love books.

I noticed the changes to Magni as well, and for me who completely skipped SL it seemed pretty dramatic since I basically went straight from BfA Magni to seeing him now. Is BfA the last time we’ve really interacted with him or did he come up at all during SL?

Also wasn’t there a time jump during SL? Magni mentioned it being ‘years’ since he’d last spoken with Azeroth, so I guess that means he’s been spending a lot of time feeling lost and abandoned.

Ooooo, now see I can get behind this. I love to read all the books/notes/etc I find. That being said, I probably haven’t even found a fraction of them

I used WoWhead to help with the Well Read Achievement but some books are in dungeons and I think some raids. It really help find some of the ones you can easily over look when moving fast.

Azeroth turned Magni into a diamond and then left him that way.

That’s why he’s angry. At least that’s what he said in the last cine during the questing.

Being turned into stone probably makes things chafe.

Nothing happened outside the game. If you just talk to Magni, read the dialogue, he explains his frustrations.

  • Turned to Diamond and left frozen in place to commune to her

  • Brought back to aid her and save her from the checks notes Old Gods

  • Ghosts him for 5+ years

  • Azeroth cries out for help and instead asks everyone but her Speaker to help her and just leaves him looking like an idiot to the champions.

Not only that, she ghosted him and then decided to start asking everyone but him for help. It’s been what, 7-9 years in-game since BfA? Long time to ghost someone you physically changed so they could better assist you.

This part is not directed to anyone here, but spoiler: Magni gets turned back into a Dwarf in TWW, so maybe Azeroth felt bad for ghosting him and helped restore him to his natural form.

The pre-patch quest chain shows him expressing his frustration - so no book needed. The dwarves are quite a sub-plot in TWW - so I expect the story involving Magni will evolve.

He got turned into a giant diamond and then was abandoned by azeroth. They literally say what happened in the quest.

It makes a lot of sense. He became Azeroths speaker and was abandoned by her for years. All he had was time to sit around and do nothing but think about the life he is missing out on.

He’s regretting being the speaker.

And the fact that Azeroth wouldn’t speak to him but everybody else after all those years!

Dang.

Sort of makes his sacrifice seem pointless.

I suppose Azeroth realized Magni wasn’t much help to begin with in battle for Azeroth so she decided to call out straight to the source without the middleman this time.

I would have expected Magni to feel depressed instead of hating Azeroth due to all of his past contributions helping her.
