Let’s face it. Younger generations have and always will be the driving force of capitalism.
So how is it difficult for WoW to attract younger audiences to play it compared to LOL DOTA GTA5 fortnite etc?
4 out of these 8 gaming categories are decades old games but they still manage to attract new audiences hitherto younger audiences.
and the format is outdated, zoomers will not suffer raids, plus the only thing that could be attractive about this game to them is that it was once something sometime ago
Wow is attracting new players though, Blizzard reported as much during their last quarterly report.
What’s popular on twitch doesn’t always translate well into whether or not a game is getting new players. Candy Crush gets thousands of new players a day, but you won’t see that on Twitch any time soon.
Actually, yes and no. MOBA games take time to learn. It’s not as plug and play. The people that start playing now will keep playing it to learn it over the years same goes for people that played it decades ago.
The younger audiences now days don’t like the games like wow in which if you don’t play for a while you’re behind forever.
Games like mobas and fps allow you to play now, take a break and when you come back you are still competitive, yeah you may have lost a few new cosmetics but you’re not any weaker than everyone else, unlike wow.
MMOs like wow require you to be constantly playing it for you to remain relevant and that’s one of the things that keep the moba/fps crowd away.
Instant gratification, these new generation of gamers want games to have no effort put in, they just sand boxes with easy access to everything.
We see this in the mentality of the wow community to, as they try and push the devs to make the game less and less RPG, and more sandbox looter shooter
Actually it isn’t. That’s the crux of the problem. WOW isn’t only having a hard time keeping players but also attracting new players. Hence the big dip from 12 mil during wrath.
