Why is it /silly and not /joke?

Because a joke has a punchline, when a lot of /silly lines are just absurd comments.

Same reason /amazed returns an error, but /amaze emotes your character as “amazed”.

Most jokes and flirts were removed anyway in the Great Puritan Purge of 2021, so no sense giving it much thought.

I think we lost 90 or so genuinely funny voice lines during that grand virtue signal, which is absolutely insane.

Even more insane was the damsels from the Maximillian questline being changed into “town dweller”. The whole ordeal doesn’t even make sense anymore. There’s no town in un’goro.

Who the heck even says ‘town dweller’ anyway? That’s got to be one of the most unnatural things I’ve ever heard. Villager? Townsfolk? Civilian? Citizen? Even community member! But Town Dweller? I have literally never heard anyone ever be called that anywhere.

Plus it ruins the joke of the blood elf male being a damsel.

… because not all jokes are silly. Satire would be an example.

Here is another, why are tanks called tanks? They don’t hold water, fuel or any other liquid. Tanks may have tanks for that purpose but why do they have that name?

One thing I heard was that early in World War I one of the countries (probably English speaking) wanted an armored vehicle with various weapons but they didn’t want anyone to know about it. So when funding the project they called it a “tank” (meaning a truck that could haul fuel or water) instead of calling it an armored vehicle.

The name stuck.

There is a fine difference between being a comic and being a comedian.

Comics (not the magazine) state funny things, which often results in a joke. /joke

Comedians state things funny. Doesn’t matter what they say. There is a certain charm to it. /silly

For example:
Sometimes I like to lay in my bathtub with absolutely nothing in it.

Also the fact that the whole thing is entirely in his head. These aren’t damsels, they’re just random people. They aren’t dragons, they’re dinosaurs and parrots. The whole point is that the guy is Don Quixote and it went right over their heads in favor of… I don’t know. Not disrespecting some NPCs?
