This game and it’s reputation online is so strange to me. You can’t go anywhere on the internet, even the game’s own forums, and say “I’m hyped for the Dragonflight release. I can’t wait.” Without everybody talking down to you and saying how bad the game is. Yet millions of people will buy it when it comes out and play it. I see other people talking about how hyped they are for the new God of War game and people collectively loose their mind over thinking about it. What’s the deal with this game’s reputation?
Because Blizz must never know we are happy.
I mean millions of people have supported a lot of terrible things before, including Shadowlands.
It’s not, but the internet has always been a place of negativity.
Who cares if other people approve of what you like or not?
I’m cautiously optimistic about it.
Expectations are tempered, though, and regardless of how good or bad it is I’m sure I’ll be at the very least content doing my usual stuff (leveling alts, collecting elite sets, doing some keys, pushing arena, etc).
I purchase crap from China all the time, that doesn’t mean they provide quality goods. Just saying.
That is the internet generally.
The forums aren’t an accurate representation of the community as a whole. Many come here to rage about something they dislike.
Yeah, its not an mmorpg either. I’m sure there are people who have their nuance complaints.
Play a game for 20 years, devote thousands of dollars to the company, then endure the repetitive mistakes, and potential dysfunction of a class you enjoy. Many of these issues are experiences they have, or fears, sometimes both. Class balance is a yo-yo between one shot classes and consistent damage classes. The amount of variables required for a game, like this game, to function is pretty intense for any Dev to manage. This game has a reputation because it was popular and had that level of exposure. Its kind of the same thing with relationships. Air out your dirty business on facebook and see how far you get in your relationship. Not being hyped about something you probably experienced 8 times is more wise, but some of them are projecting or all over the place emotionally.
Its not, good for you if youre happy and excited.
Lots of people are rather discouraged and disaffected at this point, given Blizzard’s track record.
Initially I was hyped, when it was first announced. But the more I heard, the more I’ve seen on PTR regarding changes, and Zereth Mortis, flipped me into the ‘don’t care anymore’ and ‘wait and see’.
I think most people are expecting a hot mess since that has been Blizzard’s track record. They’re unhappy and so take that unhappiness out on whoever is still optimistic.
Me, if someone is excited, good for them. I hope they’re right and I’m wrong. I really really do. But I’ve become a pessimist. It’s easier not to be disappointed that way.
Yep. Public relations is just another term for propaganda.
Take anything and everything Blizzard says with a grain of salt. Leave speculation at the door and wait. The more hype that is induced, the more disappointed you will be. But there is also the opposite “Apocalyptic” types who run around proclaiming the sky is falling like chicken little. It is what it is.
the GD is full of career forum posters that just wanna argue with ppl all day long on their way to 30k forum posts, or hijack threads going back and forth with the other 30k post ppl so they can rack up the count
they dont actually care if the game is good or bad. the forum is their end game
probably because blizzard sucks and has a horrible reputation. i’m excited for dragon flight, but people who are not most likely want to see anything blizzard touches die.
and i do not blame them.
Didn’t you know. It’s the cool thing to do to hate big corporations. Even one’s you actively support!
You’re talking about Capitalism, aren’t you?
People are playing the odds. It will take a miracle for this to actually be good. And everyone knows this because of pattern recognition, which we are all gifted with.
Canada.
I’m excited about it, but very few of my friends are optimistic. Even people who were stalwart defenders of blizzard for decades have taken a negative approach. I don’t listen to what other people say when making entertainment choices though. A lot of movies with terrible reviews are also my favorites.
It’s in the name. Entertainment. As long as you’re having fun is all that counts. It’s not saving lives or something.
Why …
What exactly is there to be hyped for?
Played all the other expansions? Did all the quests? The exact same thing will be in Dragon exp just dragon flavored. They won’t add any new quest mechanics it’s just kill/collect/return. I would like new ideas, but Blizzard has* LONG given up on that with recycled content. Enjoy the taste of dragon quests tho.
There’s two answers depending on who you ask.
Answer #1)
Actiblizz is an amoral company who exploits their workers, does not pay them fair wages, harasses their employees, fires people to cut costs, pays for another yacht, antagonizes their critics, hearthstone tornament incident, Diablo Immortal incident, loot boxes, MTX, etc. Are all controversies they partake in.
Answer #2)
The community is huffing their 10 year old high from the WotLK days and thinks everything that is new automatically sucks because it’s not about Arthas or Illidan anymore, believes classic is superior and wants Dragonflight to just be classic while also making classic+ and any time a casual player has fun should just be invalidated no matter what.
