They don’t want people to farm honor while leveling from 51-60 and suddenly have a full upgraded set. Even though at 60 you can party sync into the 51-59 bracket to farm honor. You must suffer ‘the journey’ of gearing.

They want people to suffer in max level bgs against fully geared players while you have green level gear.
They really need to add in scaling into pvp, so in bgs and arena you at least get scaled to the point where you dont get one shot and can kill people. Not fully scale them up to 285 but at least to 259
the funny thing was BFA had pvp scaling and everyone complained about it and now that Slands has NO scaling players are complaining about it. blizzard just cant win lmao. it’s sort of like vendors. I remember blizzard saying the whole reason they removed vendors was because players were complaining that they were buying the wrong item OR couldnt find the vendor or sometimes even getting lost to the vendor. so blizz removed them. How does one get lost to the vendor anyway ?

I have played since WOTLK. Most of my play time was WOTLK - MOP and a couple of WOD seasons. I havent really played heaps since but i am not like the rest of people here that just want to remove all gear from pvp.
WOTLK had gear based rating and it was my favourite pvp expac. I loved to slowly grind up rating to unlock different gear peices. WOD had really easy gearing but gear didnt mean anything and rating didnt really mean anything outside of a transmog set that was just a recolour after season 1.
In my opinion, blizz just needs to add a minimum gear scaling thing into PVP for new players that just leveled up and they need to reduce the different between top players and lower players Ilvl wise.
But again i dont think shadowlands has super low participation due to gearing like most people on these forums think. People seem to forget we just got 2 bad xpacs in a row and not only is arena bad but both arena\raiding and mplus are all down in participation. BFA and Shadowlands locking players into single specs, no alts, chore like pve trash. It all contributed to burn out and people quitting. Everybody on these forums are just pointing the finger saying one thing killed wow pvp and i dont think its the pvp gearingn system, however i do agree it takes far too dam long to gear up and might of contributed to it.

nah, i really think locking gear upgrades or gear behind rating is just too toxic for the current player base. the reason why so many people are not participating in ranked pvp is cause its too toxic AND also most if not a majority of players will never be able to upgrade their gear to max rank. despite what these forums say, not everyone can reach Duelist even though its only 2100
Does it matter? You have a full week to farm honor from first wins of the day until you get your walmart cart pusher paycheck and can pay for duelist anyways Dozer and can upgrade your gear

You think arena is down because people will never be able to upgrade there gear to max? I just disagree. I think participation is down because this xpac was trash with all the points above. Which also explains why everything else is down in participation.
WOTLK was super popular and they had far more gear locking to the point where you couldnt even buy certain epic pvp gear if you didnt have rating.
If we use that same logic it would be like saying somebody quit raiding because they could never get mythic raid gear and are locked in heroic because they suck and dont want to get better.
While i agree the upgrade system needs some work i dont think its pointless. I have played during the 10 odd years of gear not mattering in pvp and arena progression was terrible. All you had to achieve was like a 2.2k bloody red like enchant and some pve recolour was terrible. I prefer the WOTLK gearing anyday. I respect your opinion i just dont agree with it. This xpac has died due to many reasons like death from a thousand cuts not just one thing. I dont think gear 3 ilvl gear upgrades being locked behind 2.1k is one of them.

Doing dailies really is a huge deal. Like doing one bg and one arena everyday the time to reward ratio is just so huge compared to just grinding it.
I think what the issue is, is most people dont want to play like what blizzard wants them to play. Blizzard wants people to log in and play every single day but most people just want to play every so often with long game sessions. Because the reward structure is so focused around dailies it feels bad for people with different play types.
Its not toxic, its just people not understanding each other, this is a play type difference. Gotta have a coversation without going to that degree. Playing the game like how blizz wants you to play it… like do all your dailies instead of long play seasons and missing dailies is how some people play and its the best time to rewards ratio atm. I personally hate dailies but thats why some people wont agree with you
