Why is healing so hard?

I have been playing a resto shaman basically exclusively since Cataclysm, and have tried literally every heal spec at some point. Since The War Within, healing (particularly M+) seems crazy difficult. Particularly, I just hopped in a +5 (611 ilvl), and we all wiped on literally the first group of trash. Not the first time Ive had this happen with a similar Ilvl at similar M+ level. I had all my passive heals and general rotation going AND healing stream totem and earthen wall up, and still it was a quick and brutal wipe.

Am I the problem? Are the melee and tank to blame because they dont know mechanics as I’ve seen in other forum posts? Are there really fatal mechanics that everyone must know for just trash at +5? I literally healed the first 4 bosses (albeit, the east ones) of heroic Nerub JUST LAST NIGHT.

Looking for an honest post mortem.

+5 is roughly +15 from DF S1-3 (supposedly).
Healing got more stressful than fun around +10 in DF S1-3.
The starting line is the point at which is starts to suck these days.

So I just don’t heal anymore.

Like, should people be falling over on the first trash pull? Probably not in a +5. But it depends on the dungeon. Some have important kicks, especially if the tank does a big first pull. Some just have big DoTs / debuffs or targeted attacks. And others do nothing and it’s basically free.
