Why is Force of Nature the best single target ability for Night Fae?

Was reading Methods balance druid guide to see how it differed from Icyveins, and they are saying that for Night Fae specifically, FoN is the best single target.

What about Night Fae makes it the best?

My immediate speculation would be that perhaps because using it right before convoke would let it gain the 20%+ dmg boost for the 4s that convoke is active? I can’t really think of another valid reason.

Possibly from interaction with Niya’s spur ability which we don’t quite yet have. I don’t know.

The best part about Treants is that when they target your enemy, they autotarget your treants. So coming out of stealth it’s pretty fun, especially in world pvp. They have no idea where they’re being attacked from

Please someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe FoN is so powerful on ST for Night Fae specifically because the 3x Treants you summon each attacking a single target count for the stacking ability for your soulbind Niya - Grove Invigoration. Grove Invigoration stacks up to a HUGE mastery buff, which is the bis stat for balance druids, and every minute being able to continue to stack it up with the treants is a large damage increase as GI is the highest simming dps covenant soulbind.

As I said, please someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I don’t think it’s per hit on the target wheee you gain a stack, but in ability usage.

So using FoN can trigger 1 stack. At least that’s how I understand it. Otherwise Starfire would play a bigger pivotal role I. AoE situations in Solar Eclipse.

So GCD over hit count

Well i just got on this morning and decided to test it out on some Dummys. After 6 casts its triggered Grove Invigoration zero times and did only about 4-5k in damage.

And casting Convoke to get the stack of GI does zero to improve the DPS of the tress.

Well im stumped. Maybe it will trigger Niyas Tools: Burrs when we unlock it? BUt if it doesnt trigger GI i dont know why it would.

Okay so I had to go look at the talent row (know most of the talents, just not what rows they belong too lol)

FoN: summons 3 treants that taunt and attack your target, and generates 20 AP on use.

Warrior of Elune: when activated, makes your next 3 Starfires instant and generate 40% more AP.

Balance of Nature: generate 2 AP every 3 seconds

Warrior of Elune is out for single target. During single target, while in lunar eclipse, you use this time to refresh DoTs and bank AP for Solar Eclipse.

Balance of Nature: 40 AP over 60 seconds. It’s a free Starsurge every minute. Sounds decent enough…but…

FoN: 20 AP instantly, plus treants damage for 10 seconds. Then with only a GCD between between being able to use 2 FoN uses within a BoN window, you get the same AP generation (40), but 2x treant damage. So still a free Starsurge every minute like BoN, but also the damage of the trees…

This is my take on it anyway, looking at it. I’m a Feral player. I played Balance just enough to get the hang of it to understand the nuances of the spec. As for why FoN is the single target talent for most DPS, that wasn’t in my testing. But this is the reasoning I came up with
