Why is execute ok but deathbolt is not?

Looking at the nerf to db.

At least 1 requires setup, cast time, and has a cooldown. They both do stupid damage.

Asking for a friend.

Not a hole you wanna get into, my friend.

no no. it’s a valid question quite frankly. i wonder how the arena forums will approach this one though. :face_with_monocle: :face_with_monocle:

Execute itself isn’t really the issue here, though.

idk have u ever been sudden death procd for like 30k

idk have u ever been sudden death bolted for like 60k

I mean death bolt and execute both need nerfs. Also psyfiend needs a way to be dotted or lower hp.

Warlocks are unfun to play vs. when good.

People have no brains.

Therefore telegraphed setup builds are broken.

Warriors only do big crits like that to clothies/leather. You’ll never see a warrior one shot an hpal or rsham because of how armor works this expac (shields are like 10%+ phys dmg reduction alone).

But yes warriors do need a 10-20% dmg nerf across the board. I even got hit by 20k overpower the other day.

wtf. i got oneshot by nekro arms plenty times as full duelist geared uhdk. ofc i dont have a shield but full plate. armor doesnt mean that much warriors bully me regardless.

The problem is necrolord stat mod stacking, conduit and the banner itself on top of everything else that already buffs their damage. That and sudden death procs shouldn’t be a full power execute.

It’s a mixture of things. There’s certainly class bias at play, because of bfa people hate locks and think anything related to lock that’s asking for buffs or changes is just “bad bfa locks wanting to go back to bfa again”. Which isn’t helped by how absolutely fried some of the lock posters on here can get.

The other part is nobody likes current warrior damage or deathbolt, but many “prefer” execute because getting deleted from 60% of your hp feels more like you just had a case of bad luck with execute critting or sudden death procs.

Meanwhile deathbolts a set up that requires you to pay attention and react correctly to it or you will die every time. So it’s easier to go on the forums and complain about getting deathbolted than just shrugging your shoulders at a 30k execute.

Execute should hit super hard.
It shouldn’t be usable at 35%, have a proc to use at any % while also charging you to the target.
If execute always hit extremely hard but was ONLY usable at 20%, would be fine.

Shield is actually insane. It is weird how ret paladins and DKs are in full plate yet still get blown up by physical dmg.

For example, my 230 ilvl rshaman has 981 armor (21.9% phys dmg reduction. Once I equip a shield, its 1715 armor (32% phys dmg reduction).

And what’s even weirder, my 213 ilvl hpal has 1803 armor (37% phys dmg reduction).

How in the flying heck is 1715 armor = 32% reduc and 1803 armor = 37% reduc.

Each point has diminishing returns because each point is damage reduction in the form of % effective health.

League of legends uses the same formula, but with easier math.

For example, each armor point gives you 1% more effective health against physical damage. So at 100 armor, you’d have effectively 100% more hp, which equates to 50% physical Dr.
Continuing, at 200 armor, you’d have 200% effective bonus health, or 66% physical damage reduction.
And at 300 armor you’d have 300% effective bonus health for 75% physical Dr.

What this means in a tl;Dr is that each and every point of armor is less effective as they add up.

Ok I don’t believe that at all

Was a dreadnaught crit with overpower crit. So one global overpower = 20k

Was on leather too.
