I’m not saying I hate it or anything, but it does take getting used to when I’ve only really played melee or ranged before. Yes I’ve played Evoker in the past, but that was DF launch and then speed leveling during MoP remix so I wasn’t actually “playing” the class so much as speed leveling.
Half the time I click my spells and I get “out of range”. 5 steps closer, hey now you can shoot.
I just think it’s incredibly awkward to have them this midrange thing, especially when half their spells take the upper half of 1.5 seconds to cast. So as you are sitting there casting your slow spells, you’re being attacked because you don’t have the range you should. Personally, I would like if the cast times went down by a like a second. With the cast times being so long, they just make mid-range feel clunky. Like they made a caster class with caster spell times (some spells like living flame are slower actually), then cut the range in half and called it mid-range.
I believe part of the trade off for their high mobility as a caster was a shorter range. They have several movement abilities and can even cast while moving with certain buffs. That’s just the trade off.
Cuz blizzard didn’t wanted to just make another caster, they had to make something different, reinvent the wheel
Big uptime and burst + mobilty for limited range.
And with Scalecommander as Dev you have almost 100% uptime on casting while moving if playing correctly.
I want to make an inappropriate joke with this but I will let it slide…….this time.
YES, i just posted about this in the class forum. PVE is fine generally, Dev is fun. PVP is certainly a subjective experience. IT has a high burnout factor (no pun intended) for me with the 25 yard range. IT put a large target on the character simply because you are in the goldilocks zone for tab targeters and click targeters imo. I suppose one could develop a play style for it that works, but i cant see it being popular
