Why is everyone so Anti-community?

First i want to state that this is by no means supposed to be click bait.

So every day i see comments on post asking OP why they dont look on google or why they are posting that on the fourms, can’t we just have general conversations about the game?

Define “anti-community” for a start.

Sounds like empty words to me everything I see is the opposite of anti community

Its the internet, and it doesn’t matter the game. You will always have your variety of well…people. Seems to be a very strong community in game and out imo.

I don’t think it’s a binary thing. It’s not pro-community or anti-community. Like if you invite someone to do a quest that you’re currently working on, and he declines the invite. He’s not necessarily anti-community, he might just be anti-you. This isn’t a game with a singular community. This game has innumerable communities within itself. That same guy may consider his guild to be his community, or his group of friends. You might consider the greater faction population to be your community, or your entire server. Neither one of these perspectives is wrong or incorrect, and each person is entitled to their own perspective; therefore neither person, in this example, is anti-community; they just have different perspectives of what their community is.

I dunno OP, why are you posting this on the forums instead of googling it?

Very solid point

I’m not sure how expecting someone to do a bit of research on their own before asking is “anti-community.”

By the time you type out " Where is (insert anything in the game)" in to general, you could have typed that exact same thing in to Google and found your answer with pictures.

In the old days it was look it up on Allakazam or Thotbott.

Guess WoW has always been ‘anti-community.’

Why do people use “community” when what they really mean is “jumping to help random people”?

Don’t get me wrong - I help random people. But - I had some random tell me I was mean, and going against Classic’s “idea of community” because I would search out 2 other people in Winterspring and summon her.

It’s like “If you don’t buy an SUV, the terrorists win!”.

but for real if I see a question with a simple, 1 word or sentence answer I’ll quickly answer it but a lot of questions I see are ones that require a bit more depth to the explanation, like for example asking what the books that drop in Dire Maul are for. Obviously, they’re for head/leg enchants, but that alone isn’t anywhere near a proper explanation, and if they google it, they’ll likely find a much more eloquent answer than I’m capable of giving on the spot.

If you randomly invite me without at least sending a whisper or typing out in /say what your intentions are im going to instantly decline it.

I like to think we are “a tea community” with our biscuits and crumpets.

… yes.

I think what we might be seeing is while classic is much better at forcing social interaction through necessity, it’s not necessarily positive social interaction.

Most of it seems to center around bad tank/DPS dynamics. The rest is mostly due to leveraging situations with things like paid runs, reserved items, and general master loot / loot ninja stuff.

I suspect people might be starting to realize what made classic great was it was just a better RPG in terms of providing a meaningful sense of progression. And a lot of the things people think contributed to that sense are really problematic issues and the game was good despite those things being there.

IMO I would say that 80% of the posts on the classic forums are untrue made up statements meant to cause reactions. IMO Since classic isnt a dumpster fire like retail and is actaully a good game, people have a hard time finding things to complain about.
