Ok, I know that my gameplay is different from many, but I still find joy in going back to old content, finishing achievements, collecting just about everything, and learning new alts.
I’m really not understanding why I am seeing so many leave because they’ve exhausted this or that. Or because it’s too [insert complaint of the week here]. Why are so many emphasizing keys as the only part of the game?
Truly, if you want to leave…I understand. I do. What is confusing to me are the announcements.
The short and simple answer is drama, they want to hear that someone cares they’re leaving. That they are pretty much always disappointed is beside the point.
anyone that claims they are leaving is lying because they want attention. everyone else is either enjoying the game or leaving without making a big stink about it, ya know, like normal people should.
I started wow for m+. I normally take my break in between seasons. I’m pretty sure others also enjoy a certain aspect of the game while avoiding what others may feel is essential to stay subbed.
My spouse announced departure over the flight changes that were coming in WoD and has yet to return.
And other than a few “come back and try it out for free” events, I was gone for nearly a decade myself. I finally came back in late DF, because it appeared that the war on flight was finally over.
I have no clue if people are leaving but going off of Mythic+ data, if there isn’t a MASSIVE bump in runs over the weekend, there is going to be a huge drop off between Season 1 and Season 2.
No. But between Vanilla and Legion I got older, and the addition of M+ created a fun alternative for non raid nights. And then, as I continued to age, the amount of time I had to dedicate to raid nights went away…so all that was really left was M+. And now I don’t like M+.
If someone is being dramatic they do a ‘that’s it! I’m leaving post’ usually without much other than faff.
I can somewhat see someone leaving over say a major class change/gameplay change and that sounds fair to me . Sometimes a change can destroy someone’s gameplay style.
It ebbs and flows - take D.R.I.V.E for instance. For me it’s some of the most fun I’ve had. For some others they absolutely hate it.
I know at least one person who left over pruning and the erosion of faction war some years ago. The game was a subtle roleplaying outlet for them, and they took class pride and faction pride with passion.
Some people just don’t want to move with the times and conform to modern discord cross-connectedness that eliminates any in-game boundaries.
I kinda get it too, it was a part of the feeling of MMORPG to be presented only through your in-game character and not your discord handle.
