Different servers and data centers. Smaller set of servers to work with.

EU & NA maintenance days are not the same. Their maintenance is tomorrow, hence the whole ‘har har NA gets 8 hour head starts!’ because EU brains can’t comprehend that we end up with 4+ hr maintenances to their usual 1-2 and we end up as alpha testers and they get the fixes that had to be tried & tested on NA

It has its benefits. You American are our guinea pigs when it comes to server issues, so our issues can be fixed faster.

Not at all. History showed us that when something takes way longer during the regular American maintenance, that our servers are on time back because they already knew how to fix the issue they had during the American restart.
I’m actually glad about this.
EU and NA have different patch days. Been this way for decades.
The 11th is six hours away for many in Europe.
The RWF comments are always gold because of this ‘head start’. Either it doesn’t count when NA wins, or they get mocked for losing in spite of it. The bugs and server issues usually get ignored though.
Their working hours happen 6 to 9 hours earlier than ours.
They get their season 1 tomorrow they are a day behind us
They’re waiting for the people who pay to test new content to find the worst problems so they can fix them before we go live.

On European servers, maintenance never lasts more than an hour because European servers are updated later than American ones. When a new patch is installed on American servers, Europeans continue to play the previous version for a while the new addon is applied simultaneously for everyone.
