Why is Draka the leader of Maldraxxus?

It just doesn’t seem like a good fit to me. I feel like there were other good candidates to have the leader role that were better then Draka. If the Arbiter wasn’t messed up by the time Varian died I would say he would be the best pick. If not then I feel like even Grommash Hellscream, Broxigar, and a few other people are out there that could’ve fit the role better. I’m not saying that Draka doesn’t work, but I feel like there were better options.

She wasn’t, that happened after Varian died.

I think Blizz was going for a relatively underdeveloped character. Like Grom and Varian we know them inside and out. Their stories also ended very well, they don’t need to come back.

Original Draka has never been seen in WoW so there’s room to grow and establish her. They likely also have a plotline planned between her and Thrall so it probably wasn’t entirely a random choice. We just haven’t seen the full plan yet!

Broxigar I think is just not really known enough. Draka’s name is set, but anyone who didn’t read the WoA trilogy, which goes for many players I’d imagine, would never know who Brox is. He’s just a random orc in comparison. Going into the SL it’s better to have people who are recognized for more impact.

Draka is to the Primus as Lor’themar is to Anasterian Sunstrider.

For the same reason Jaina is overpowered god that can deal with torghast boss herself while Baine and Thrall are pathetic losers

Varian is (was) a head case. NOT the best choice.

So… about that, Fel, it does this thing to souls. And Gul’dan did that thing to Varian with Fel magic. Can you guess what Fel Magic does?

Don’t forget she’s Thrall’s mom; a fact that is actually hard to forget, since that’s really the only notable thing about the character.

Also don’t forget that Thrall is a self-insert of Chris Metzen, so any and all things relating even tangentially to him will get a spotlight at some point. The fact that he’s no longer with Blizzard is irrelevant, the damage is done.

They could have picked about a zillion other relative-unknown-yet-familiar characters, and of course it had to be the one related to Thrall that they went with.

Eh, Draka really doesn’t fit at all, especially in the wake of having so very many other warmonger types. If it HAS to be a female character, because… reasons, Warlord Zaela would have been a better pick for this role. She’s known, she’s known for exactly this reason, and she’d come with all sorts of interesting history to bounce off against.

Draka… her past characterization and history serve no purpose and add nothing to her in her current narrative.

Varian was destroyed by the legion and I believe his soul was wiped from existence

Draka isn’t the leader of Maldraxxus.

She’s a lieutenant, a stand-in for the Primus who is the actual leader of Maldraxxus, and those that outrank her, namely the Margraves, have been either killed or are siding with the Jailer.

That might be the point. She’s a blank slate; they can do basically whatever they want with her story without being constrained by her past.

I agree that Broxigar would have made a far more fitting leader of Maldraxxus.

she’s not the leader… she’s “waiting” until the other houses comeback to their senses as dumb as it sounds it’s true one of the WQ’s there tells you that… they are “helping” the chosen still.

Meanwhile as a necrolord you’re kinda representing your own place there and the kyrian don’t like you at all… I could say more but it would be a bit of spoilers if people didnt do the necrolord campaign so far…

Which is why I’ll never forgive Blizzard… Hellscream gets to be milked for eternity but Varian’s soul is wiped from existence… Hell we’ll probably save Hellscream with the quality of the writing we’ve been getting.

To be fair, Varian was the leader of the Alliance up until the beginning of Legion. Hellscream only got to be leader for a couple of expansions before he was deposed…

Thats just accurate canon power levels, though. Thrall’s not even a shaman anymore.

My favorite theory is that Garrosh will come out of Revendreth absolved of his sins and then becomes the new leader of Maldraxxus.

It won’t happen because Blizzard doesn’t let good things happen to warchiefs, but an orc can dream can’t he?
