Because classic wow is huge and just by itself is one of the largest mmos out there and has hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
People understimate classic, classic is way more beloved than retail, the hype from 2019 classic was unheard of, over a 1.2kk viewers on twitch thats like double of what the recent expansions had.
You understand the developers that created Vanila 2004 and previous expansions no longer work for Blizzard right??? Rob Pardo and other great developers are no longer with the companyâŠ
You realize it makes no logical sense to create classic + content with the current developers that work on retail right? They can just make retail content and produce money off micro transactions.
Sub money is not even 1% of their yearly revenue from wow lol. You wouldnât get the content you think you would get if you asked the current devs to create a âclassic +â
Even Pservers failed at it, it was terrible. The same people who sub for classic, are playing retail btw, they always go back to a new expansion.
If they launch Cata Classic, me and most of my friends will unsub and go straight to private servers. The entire old Classic world is destroyed when Cata launches. Biggest sub drop in history. Over a quarter million subs dropped within the first two weeks of Cata.
Why? Because choosing TBC was the playerbase saying âyesâ to a retail progression realm and âNoâ to novel Classic content. Consider a hypothetical scenario where, on the launch of TBC prepatch, everyone chose to stay in their Classic Era realms. What message to you think that would have sent the Classic Team? Alas, instead the majority of the lemmings joyfully hopped through that Dark Portal that ends in the Shadowlands.
Novel Classic+ content could be a reality right now if this community had any foresight.
They already turned wotlk into classic plus. Changes changes changes.
This should alsi be a warning that shiws how bad they would screw up a true classic plus. They have no idea what made vanilla and tbc great games. They think it was rdfâŠlol. thats why most of us are done after wrath.
Man idk why they donât expand on the scourge story pathâŠ.The undeads donât even like working with anyone and yet here we are chillinâŠclassic + is a must imo.
The better question is, why do they feel they need to change the old versions at all when they have a perfectly good retail experience they could and should be changing to improve? Theyâd be better off leaving the original/1st 2 expansions alone with a couple era servers for each and call it good. We donât need + nothing or revamped old content. Give us dads and boomers the old stuff we love and if you wanna make a + or new expansion retail is a perfect candidate to change things as Blizzard sees fit.
I woukdnt mind cata content but without class pruning and talent tree changing. Hell it might be fun letting us hit level 85 using wrath trees for an extra 5 points.
Nope, sorry. Difficulty sliders for the same raids with the same bosses for the same loot without any new dungeons, new talents, new gear sets, or new quests is not Classic+. SoM was a testrun for retrofitting Classic as a D3 seasonal play model.
ITâs actually scary how good some of those private servers are. Not naming names because I donât want to advertise potential backdoors to your computers (run private server clients on VMs, if you do), but they are really innovating hard and fast.
Blizzard does Classic because itâs a lot of money for low investment (small team just to tweak things, no new development). They wonât make classic+ as that would require a much larger investment for same returns. Everyone has their own view on what the âstyleâ of classic is so it would just end up a mess anyway.
