Why is Classic Better Than Retail?

You didnt? Or right… paladin nevermind.

Go to the harpy area north of crossroads and fight the slayers with windfury at level 17.

Come back and share your experience lol…

Because retail is a hub game where you sit in whatever the major city is for that expansion and the world is essentially dead. The gear is boring and gets replaced everything 3 months.

Classic the the world is mostly alive, gear from all the raids has a purpose, and once you achieve bis you never have to start that treadmill again.

As if anything in Classic is remotely more difficult than anything in retail.

I feel like Classic players just say that, but do you have any retail pvp titles? I bet you don’t lol.

Classic is coming on 20 years old, I beat it when I was just getting into WoW, as a 10-year old, with my big brother showing me how to play.

It’s not hard, it’s more tedious than anything.

A heroic dungeon in retail is harder than anything SoD can throw at you, at the moment lol.

We 9-manned BFD last night. It’s a joke.

I will never take anyone who says Classic is harder, seriously. Because it’s not harder.

The top warrior rotation is spamming hamstring above 80 rage, in retail it resembles an actual rotation. Also Warlocks spamming only Shadowbolt, that must be skillful! Lol.

If you had to sum it up, what would you say your reasoning is for preferring to be in a raid with 39 other people rather than just, you know, actually being a player vs. another player?

I think I might know.

See? If you did any PvP you might able to point to something other than PvE in your telling of how easy the PvP you don’t do is.

I doubt forum trolls really know things, they just wanna piss off the most people by having the worst takes, and adding little emojis to evoke a reaction.

Oh dear. I think you might know too. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I don’t play live/retail anymore but I do acknowledge that this is a truth for many.
Glad that they are different enough to keep things interesting and in so doing keep all the game modes supported.

I know where and what that is.
Im still laughin

lol what consequences? Do you mean specifically hardcore? Retail has more consequences than classic vanilla does xd.

People who say retail is easy compared to classic make me laugh. You DO know that in retail you can do dungeons to an infinite difficulty level right? Run Mythic+ to as high as you can possibly go. Nothing in classic offers that level of difficulty.

As far as PvP goes, retail is still more difficult. You have a lot faster gameplay with a lot more cooldowns and abilities off of GCD’s that you need to utilize correctly in order to win. Losing because your spells resist or a DPS player runs out of mana is not fun gameplay. Healers should use mana, DPS shouldn’t go oom after a 2min team fight. That doesn’t make it “more difficult”, it just makes it annoying.

I tell you why classic feels better then retail.

When i use 1 spell in classic you can see the mobs health take a chunk and you know it hurt

Retail. Theres a million spells going off a millions flashes of procs. Theres just to much going on in retail.

I like what you are referencing but I also like the pacing of the game. I find retail and a lot of other modern games to be filled with hyper fast animations and visual pollution.

Classic character movement and combat animations have a realism to them that feels right. Slow stuff is the right kind of slow. Fast stuff is the right kind of fast. Animations convey what the spell describes without being over the top.

I also like the slower pace of questing even if there is some bad quest flow in classic.
I hate the hamster wheel chorelike setup of retail questing although this began in Wotlk.

Never played vanilla or retail in my life. Got in to classic for a bit in 2019 then again for hc+sod. Tried retail for a bit since I was subscribed anyways and kind of hated it. Forced tutorial island into GARBAGE dungeon system, level equalizing is the worst. The main cities are an incomprehensible clusterf***.

Basically it’s less mmo and more pretend everyone else is AI while the trying to navigate an extremely poorly created overfilled world that feels empty despite how much is jammed in.

Can’t level in dungeons cuz for some reason you get put into dungeons with max levels when you’re 8 and they’ll just kick you for not having all the abilities.

Want to try leveling in the world? Good luck navigating the city to get to a quest giver, it will take you 4 hours to figure out how tf to get to them cuz the city is designed around having flying, which you don’t… Cuz level 8 new player. Also good luck leaving the city after your quest to get a quest.

Less is more.

Yeah but you play a retail pally that looks like Draven. Idk what that means but it simply can’t be good.

Is that a cringe continuum where max cringe is your level?

Normally I agree with you I love PVP and the alive world of classic but sht like early Hunters and now the army of Boomkin rerollers because we figured out how stupid Starsurge is has kind of ruined it for me. It’s not even fun there is like 0 interaction for most of the classes, you cannot close the gap on someone who has double ur range and can hit you with a 6second instantcast spell

If 40 PVP is more of the same then I’m just PVE andy in SOD.
