Why is CC so frowned upon?

Example. Skywall, I go and CC the Priest Tol’vir that uses greater heal. Tank zeros in on it and breaks the CC. This isn’t anything new, I take a troublesome mob out of the picture to be handled for later and it’s like I shot someone’s cat or something.

If everyone’s geared, it often just slows things down. Aside from that, leaving a CCed mob alone can be annoying for the tank if it’s not maintained since it comes in late to the fight and goes straight for the heals since the tank has no threat on it.

There are times when it’s useful, but often it’s just faster and easier to just steamroll everything, especially when leveling while everyone’s decked out in heirlooms.

AoE abilities nowadays are far better for packs than focus firing a target, so there is no need to CC.

because it’s not necessary

aoe it down with the other stuff and interrupt it’s casts.

Crowd control is a remnant from a distant time when the game was actually challenging.

Now people faceroll everything, and you trying to CC enemies is just too much for their tiny little DPS brains to handle.

I grasp the concept easily, I just see no point in using CC in most content

CC is ok if nobody would break it.

On higher M+ with weak tanks, the tank is the one doing his own CC and he ensures he separate the CC’d from the pack becoz of his DPSer’s AoE.

If there’s only one problem baddie then it’s really not needed. Just kill it first. This is typically how it is these days. Everybody has some form of interrupt or CC to cancel out any potentially formidable pull.

I love CCs in PvP. PvE? Not so much.

Eh TBH CC was never challenging, at least not when it’s “CC before the fight” when it’s about active CC during the fight like interrupts and stuns and pushbacks I agree but in general “CC X before the fight” is just slowing things down.

Agh no there’s too many :dizzy:

Blizzard made it so the current meta circles around grouping up a bunch of stuff and mow it down with AoE. Scarcely you’ll see people using interrupts.

Back in the day the chakrams did a load of damage and to solar hawks also had high priority to kill.
It wasn’t necessary but CCing the priest to deal with the others first, or CCing the chakram guy whilst the priest died was often done.

Those days were a different meta though to modern dungeons. Today we have the damage, the AoE and the tools to deal with big grpups with multiple priority targets.

The skywall is a section of the elemental plane that is split into two parts. Vortex Pinnacle (what you are talking about) and throne of the four winds (which is a raid).

OP is talking about Vortex Pinnacle, not Skyreach. It is pretty clear when he said “Tol’vir priest”, not arakkoan priest.

Also Skyreach is from WoD, not Cata.

CC still has a decent place in high-end M+, from sapping to banishing enemies. Anyone complaning about the lack of CC just isn’t running high enough content.

It’s frowned upon because players are learning to bash their faces against the keyboard instead of learning how to play the game. Just look at demon hunters and hunters. They are pros at face smashing.

Haha lol dunno why I got confused with that.
Probably just an assumption with it being WoD timewalking. Just figured they confused skywall with skyreach.

Someone’s never played a hunter lol.

Obviously it’s not me. Hunter was my main until DK came along. Then I abandoned the face roll class.

Cause this isn’t classic where packs can kill you unless its M+15. Just power it down and interrupt GG
