Why is Blizzard so cheap that they dont hire Humans for bot detection?

Someone like Madskillzzhc could remove more problematic bots in one day than Warden does in a month…

And someone with experience like Madskillzzhc using dev tools would not have to deal with the excuse Blizzard uses of botters learning how to avoid Wardens detection tech. Things get pretty clear when you roll up on 20 naked trolls fishing in a secluded area. We also wouldnt have to deal with those bots making millions of gold for 6 months before Warden finally decides to pull the trigger, only for the bots to pop back up 6 hours later on new accounts.

The only humans I presume detect bots are actual players and those reports are forward to GM’s or other robots to implement bans. I have been provided a pop up on my game screen when I have reported bots and cheaters in PVP within an hour of report.

The things I often report are bots I see in the world and these I see a report pop up within a day. If I am on Classical Era server there really have not been any bots to report there in a very long time, but I have reported cheaters in battlegrounds of all kinds. I generally get a popup on the battlegrounds cheaters within an hour.

I don’t know what the system actually is that they use, but I can say for sure that it has actually gotten better over the last 2 months for reasons I do not know. Blizzard could do a much better job of eradicating the bots and the cheaters if they employed a few real game masters within the game. If Blizzard were to employ a few Game masters to do this, they would actually see a positive return on investment because the bots and the cheaters harm the game for honest players like you and I. When people cheat and nothing is done some players think that if they aren’t seeing action against cheating then the company does not care, and that is potentially true, but the result of that is players unwilling to cheat will just quit or they will also potentially participate in cheating.

The results of unpunished cheating are the destruction of the game and the loss of game revenue.

when someone finally dies from one of these farmers - blizzard will get sued, and they will do something, until then

Pretty much.

When they find someone hacked to pieces and house set on fire by the ‘Gold Seller Cartel’ only then will Blizz consider maybe it shouldn’t have gotten to this state.

But don’t worry, it’s just a game after all.

Wait, what?

Players are used to:

  • report bots
  • report chat
  • report rmt
  • report bugs
  • test content
  • responsible for community

Players essentially pay Blizzard to work for them. ALL of these things were once the responsibility of the developers. Game studios used to hire people to test their own content with players only reporting minor overlooked bugs or to stress test servers.

Over the years players have volunteers and even paid early access to do the job of the developers. It has been the biggest scam of the gaming scene.

you mean the like the 12,000 bots ran by the maffia?

“how would we even know it’s a bot” ~ blizzard

This was my thought exactly. Blizzard really should want to get rid of these bots before they have a larger problem.

These bots obviously are making millions of dollars, and they have made death threats against several very well known streamers numerous times at this point.

But go on with your little ban waves Blizzard that do nothing. You do you buttercup.

Truth is, we will apply pressure and we will not back down. Let your voice be heard, bring meaning to this life. I WILL BE… I WILL BE HEARD.

It might be interesting to prove that out. I suspect it is far from factual, and I also suspect that Blizzard has humans doing bot detection, though I think they also have expensive software developers developing automation systems to detect bots, in addition to humans who do manual review.

:woman_shrugging:

Players should just spam every form of Blizzards social media asking over and over and over and over about the botting problem.

Yeah. Be passionate and bold don’t let the gold buyers gaslight you into believing that no one cares because there’s a lot of people who do.

A bot killing streamer was threatened.

And now apparently either the la cosa nostra, the cartels, the russian mob and/or the asian triads have crack teams of enforcers forming up to kill bot killers in the US.

And blizzard is doing nothing about it. they need to be at interpol HQ demanding justice!

Since botters I am told are usually foreign, you see. Only interpol may have jurisdiction. if they cared. or the country in question cared about interpol.

The drama and politics of interpol is way beyond the scope of a gaming forum thread really.

and it saves some money. MMO’s like eve are $20 a month. and still has bots. With GM’s.

Oddly enough some do try to hide it. Not every bot goes the 1 hot spot.

Some to hide it better. others? well, if you know 20 bots are there, you adding to the population won’t be as affective.

Because it’s a business and they get people to play without having to do this. The ROI on paying GMs just isn’t worth it

not sure what country you are from, but death threats and fraud are illegal in most

Bots pay subs too. Your proposition is a double negative, they lose the subs that they ban, and they create more overhead to reduce their bottom line. It will never happen.

In addition, I think there is a recognition on the developers end that bots won’t make the majority of players unsub.

Mafia is paying off Blizzard. Duh.

that’s small thinking.
i have 2 masters degrees so i’ll try to break it down a little for others to understand. You have to think about it like the movie Roadhouse with American Superstar Celebrity Patrick Swayze. Sure the bar was making money off of the degenerate bullies and drunken druggies. But the owner saw the truth, and that the damage they were doing was not worth the trouble keeping the game, i mean the bar running long term.

So the bar owner used his intelligence and hired Dalton aka Madskillzzhc to come and clean up the degenerates who were chasing away the majority of players who were fed up with botting and trying to make any gold from their hard work from professions and farming. The amazing game could not blossom with all the degenerates puking, breaking everything, and threatening the good players lives if they fought back.

Dalton aka Madskillzzhc came and got rid of them and in the end the bar was cool, full of fun times.

Bots get blizzard paid, but no bots gets blizzard huge paid and many many more players. Game gets a good rep, IP grows. More popularity.

E.G
no bans =
10,000 players (stagnant)
10,000 bots (cant grow, held back by player growth)

ban all bots =
20,000 players (growing happily)
0 bots
