Why is Blizzard rewarding you?

Mod Edit: Creating threads to troll and cause unrest in the community is against our Forum Code of Conduct. Locking this down.

This idea just struck me.

I’ve played WoW for a long time, probably 13 years. Add to that all of the server transfers (to arena with friends) and WoW tokens I’ve purchased. The money I’ve spent stands testament to my loyalty to you and your game Blizz

Now Blizz is making a classic server for you. Even though:
1- Some (or even a lot) of you admit to playing on servers that they don’t approve of, for free. Some of you are so brazen as to admit that on this forum. Not only haven’t you been paying them, but you are also using their game in ways they don’t approve.

2- You are militantly asking for a game version that cuts out even more money for them, i.e. no microtransaction, transfers, boosts.

And while you are doing this, I continue to pay subs and support you financially. Blizzard, why are you rewarding these people? It doesn’t make sense at all to me. Now you are gambling that the same people who cheat and play for free on a platform you don’t even approve are going to come back and pay?

Hey, your true passionate fanbase is over this way…If you are making a new server, please reconsider and add some of these things that we, your true loyal customer base, are asking for. We are a safe bet Blizz, we will be there to pony up sub fees because we never left your game and we are still paying to play! (I bet a lot of these forum posters don’t even have a paying subscription right now. Assuming that some of these people eventually sub to your classic server, I will have paid at least $100 to you just for this single subscription till classic release)

Blizzard isn’t rewarding anybody.

They’re hoping that people who are currently not paying $15/month will start paying $15/month.

“Your true fan base”? “These people”?
lmao. Are you for real?

Oh Em Gee.

This is a fascinating argument. I am very interested to see the counters (beyond shut up and go away) that address your points.

Aren’t you and Saqe bored of trolling this forum yet?

Full stop.
Whatcha mean “these people”?
I’m going to need to know exactly who these people are before I pwn you.
This is an important piece of gaming history.
Blizz is doing this for everyone who loves video games and wow.
As much as some want to believe its just for them. It’s not.
It’s for anyone willing to pay a sub.

i’ve never played on a private server and also because i’ve played since vanilla on live blizzard wow servers. i know you cant see that i’ve been on wow since vanilla but i have. for some reason my character’s armory is not visible. it isn’t turned off and some of my other character’s armories are viewable. it’s a glitch.

even then, the oldest things on my record are things like the spirit of competition pet, the blizzard bear cub pet, somebody order a knuckle sandwich, etc.

anyhow, i’ve been subbed since vanilla, with a few breaks inbetween due to finances. i’ve only unsubbed once out of frustration and that lasted a whole 2 months. lol i have purchased 1 mount from the game shop but that’s it. i dont buy boosts, transfers, sex/name/faction changes, pets or other mounts. but i do buy the collector’s editions of expacs.

so while not a cash cow, i would say i’m at least a pretty consistent customer. they can be guaranteed that i wont buy a mount from the shop or transfer/faction change/race change/pet/helm/boost, but i will buy new collector edition expacs .

I currently pay a $15 sub to blizzard while asking for no changes to the game. I may not have given blizzard as much money as you have, but I think I still deserve a voice. Also, one reason I am currently subbed is because of wanting to help support classic.

Guess you should take a page from “our” book, OP.

Clearly Blizzard likes us more.

“True passionate fanbase”
A true fan tries to understand Blizzard’s actions.
A true fan will stay subbed to the game even during bouts in which they no longer play in an effort to assist the company.
A true fan hopes that the company makes the right choices both for the fans and for the company’s longevity.
A true fan understands that when a base of players has been outcast from the company to such a scale that said base, after being mocked by the new base and the company itself, eventually overpowers the current base in their own forums that the company has done something wrong and needs to deal with the situation.
A true fan watches for what is going on within the company that might make them worry or show why things are done the way they are done.

I fit all of these. I supported Blizzard in warcraft 3, throughout all of WoW, even against my better judgments and the things I wanted within WoW in understanding that they MIGHT be doing what was best. Many times I was wrong. I was infuriated every single time Blizzard mocked those asking for what I wanted, but I supported Blizzard believing that one day they would realize that what we thought we wanted was what we really wanted.

Stepping into these forums and acting like you, another average long time player, are somehow special in the since that you continue to support the obviously failing game Blizzard is trying to desperately save is not exactly a great move. It is also, in the form of which you’ve enacted, one that does not need to be in forums period. I suspect this thread will be deleted soon.

Upon or before this thread’s deletion I hope you understand the error of the thoughts that provoked you to post this thread. Good Day.

I pay my a sub currently, definitely don’t want any chances to classic. This post is actually pathetic.

I suggest you accept that classic isn’t getting any of the ridiculous changes you have been asking for.

i’ll be playing both games.

Blizzard isn’t rewarding anyone. There are a minimum of 7 million people out there (likely far more) that played WoW between launch and its peak and then quit. Whether Blizz is prepared to admit that they did it to themselves or not, they’re betting minimal development resources that they can get enough of those 7 million+ subscribers back to cover the development cost, increase dividends for shareholders and bonuses for activision executives.

Obviously a passionate fanbase would continue to pay a company to play a game they hate instead of set up private servers to play a game they love. Right?

But hey, continue measure loyalty in dollars and cents. I’m sure it will work out well for you.

Lol this troll finally snapped? Did you realize you’re not getting pandas in classic? Here’s hoping you stop making threads.

Also, the short answer to your angry rant is that blizzard doesn’t need to do anything to keep you happy because no matter what they change in retail you’ve kept giving them money. In the meantime they’ve lost literal millions of subs in the last few years and believe that a faithful as possible recreation will bring some of that back.
