- March 4th Liberation of Undermine released
- May 13th Dinars released
That’s 10 weeks, 2 1/2 months, and the announcement where you need to kill a boss on Mythic level to be able to purchase the loot at mythic level…why? Just let the players have fun, it’s 10 weeks after the content has been out, no one is going to care that casual/people who can’t raid multiple nights a week is able to purchase a couple items.
The response below (copy pasted from blizzard’s blue post) is terrible The reason why: A lot of the times, the BIS trinket, is a Mythic + Dungeon trinket that you high roll in your RNG vault. They’re literally contradicting themselves by stating their below message, but still allowing max i-lvl items to come from M+.
“The middle of The War Within Season 2, however, presents a very different situation. Puzzling Cartel Chips were designed primarily as bad luck protection, allowing players who’ve been chasing specific raid items without success to have a guaranteed path to earning them. They also provide a path for players who have only done the Normal version of the raid to get a few guaranteed Hero items, without undermining a core motivation for the challenge and coordination required in Mythic raid progression. We also need to be mindful of how we will transition into the next season. Giving players who don’t normally engage in high-end content access to Item Level 680+ trinkets would essentially obsolete those slots for Season 3.”
This statement is contradicted by the great vault, because M+ and Delve gear competes against the Mythic raid gear.
Last season, got stuck with two 626 trinkets, because i never got lucky in my vault, i’ve earned 6 cutting edge achievements, and last tier was 6/8M raiding 1 night a week, but because my BIS trinkets were from dungeons, I had to get lucky on the stupid Vault RNG slot machine. You allow players to get the highest ilvl items from vault, but you won’t allow them to get them from Dinars?
Stop dilly dallying, choose 1 or the other: 1) Players have to earn the best gear 2) Players get the opportunity to get the best gear through RNG slot machine.
It’s frustrating, I don’t care if people get to bridge the gap in their gear 3 months in, let them, what is 100x more toxic than people being able to grab a couple of their core missing items is the stupid vault. I can’t compete against someone my skill level who gets lucky in vault. The hypocrisy is real and it’s stupid. We all know what you do, you implement needlessly excessive grinds to keep players playing, but it’s tiring. Why do i need to farm valorstones and crests? WoW is no longer an MMO, it’s an ARPG dungeon crawler, but for some reason y’all can’t just let it turn into that successfully, just let it.
Using bloodmallet looked at the 23 dps specs (easier to omit healing/tanking/aug) and compiled the # & % of trinkets that are their top (very quick, no research here)
- Looking at Top 2 trinkets
- 30 come from raid, 15 come from M+, why are people who only clear normal/heroic raid allowed to get access to those 15 M+ trinkets at max ilvl? That’s a 1/3rd of the BIS trinkets that are capped by great vault lottery system
- Looking at Top 5 trinkets
- 57 come from raid, 45 come from M+, but 102/23 is only 4.43? And this is looking at top 5, well, some classes the delve trinkets fall here, 1 class actually still has a Nerub-Palace trinket as their BIS trinket (Rogue Sub, I don’t know if bloodmallet is correct on this as I don’t play rogue)
So, because it’s not an RNG lottery machine, you’re going to put restrictions on Dinars, well, put those restrictions on the great vault, you can’t earn a 678 trinket, until you clear 678 ilvl M+ which would be probably all dungeons done at 14 or 15 (obviously fully geared people are clearing higher than 14-15s, but it’s bad game design for the content that drops the best gear to be impossible to do without the best gear).
If you truly believed that “Giving players who don’t normally engage in high-end content access to Item Level 680+ trinkets would essentially obsolete those slots for Season 3” you would not allow players to get 678 ilvl gear from doing Mythic plus 10.
Edit: You think they’d learn after the fiasco that was the mainly truly big flaw in Legion (the best expansion in recent years), the RNG loot system for obtaining legionaries. Watching people get screwed because they got their BIS legendaries last instead of allowing us to control them, puts a reallllllll sour taste in people’s mouths
Edit #2: If you really cared about people earning the most difficult gear, why is there the % damage boost you can earn that makes raiding easier? There’s a very difficult balance in making difficult content fun and engaging, but that’s still difficult, it’s almost impossible to find that perfect balance, but making content that’s so miserably difficult it’s not fun, this game isn’t Elder Scrolls, it’s WoW. Make the end game content a bit easier, and start limiting addons, instead the designs get harder, and if you don’t use proper addons and research new addons, and find the new addons, you get left behind. How do you expect casuals to make the jump into that harder content when they have to download addons to make the fights even potentially doable (Ovi’nax from palace, awful design of something that should’ve been an amazing fight, but instead raiders have to spend their first few hours doing this boss setting up weak auras because it’s literally so difficult to do without weak auras that i’d rather chug acid)
