Why is banishing tapped targets not considered griefing?

Had an incident where a warlock continually banished any demon I was trying to kill in an effort to get me to leave an area he was farming. Figured this would fall under griefing as Blizzard changed the sheep mechanic to not work on tapped targets, but according to GMs it’s just game mechanics and not griefing.

Is there a specific reason this is just use of game mechanics over griefing? Is there an actual difference between this and sheeping tapped mobs before it was patched?

I would assume because the game is 15yo and its a super niche thing to happen. Why waste company time on that. Either go to a new area and let him be or continue to waste your own time playing with him. User error if you ask me.

You draw a really good comparison. The only reason I can see this being enabled is so a player can help another overwhelmed player. When that is not happening and trouble is reported it should automatically fall into the “can’t do since we already made it so one can’t sheep” bucket. A warning should go out at least.

Not sure the reasoning other than in vanilla 1.12 these changes were in affect.

They left banish out of it for a reason possibly. Regardless if it was possible in 1.12 it should be possible now.

That that require untapped target are:

Polymorph, MC, Enslave Demon, and Transmogify (the thing you do in feralas on giants).

Those were MY demons dwarf

You’re lucky I didn’t banish you

Edit: i’m jk, but yeah that’s pretty mean

I’m guessing the difference is because sheep heals the target.

That makes sense.

I think all these you could potentially heal or the target: Polymorph, MC, Enslave Demon

What you should have done is followed the warlock around and just stood really, really close to him doing nothing as he farmed. Be real creepy about it but don’t say anything, maybe an emote every once in a while but not targeting him. It’s not harassment but people get weirded out.

Satyr camp belongs to the warlocks kids. Pools closed!

Make sure to pick at the seat of your pants and sniff your nose a lot.
