Why is balance druid

Not allowed to be good? I mean, SP is good, why is balance druid always trash? As long as I can remember, why the severe nerfs to the leggo powers? Put them at full SL strength and this would still not be OP when you look at what melee can do.

40 astral for a Surge that does mediocre DMG? A long cast for a starfire that tickles others?

You cannot get away, cannot do DMG, cannot tank DMG, no wonder you never ever see a balance druid in any PvP content.

My question is why? Why don’t you do drastic changes? Do you not see this? Or Wow needs trash classes so others feel more powerful, is this game design?

Yep its hilarious how little they care about boomkin viability in pvp. That 20% buff to starsurge is unnoticeable. Still tickles, cost too much ap, and is only used when you get a proc from starweaver. Outside of that its a waste of a global. Survivability is even worse. If you get into a shuffle and its 3 melee DPS, expect to lose 60 pts or get 0 if you manage to win 3 rounds.

Boomkin form should be way tankier. 200% armor bonus, not a crappy 125%. Wild charge should send us back even farther and root those near us as we jump away. Moonfire/sunfire should slow by 40-50% so we can actually kite. Stellar flare should either do WAY more dot dmg or way more direct dmg. It should also give dispel protection and do something to the dispeller, like silence, big dmg, SOMETHING BLIZZARD.

Ive played 700 games in shuff as boomy and i’ve went up to 1750, now down to 1410, because literally every single god damn game has a DH/war. Per my arena tracker, its now 22/24 games had a DH. 18/24 had a war. Literally all they do is face roll and people die, with no chance of getting away or doing good dmg. If you try to cast stellar flare and get kicked, you cant do anything, including heal with renewal or regrowths.

Its just laughable how badly designed boomkins are and blizz tree rework is gunna nerf us even more with forcing us to take useless talents we dont have to take now.

You’re doing a terrible job with boomkins blizzard. Completely unacceptable.

who cares about armor? it should have 15% dr to all damage on it

Boomkin was my main for 10 years it’s a shell of what it used to be.

Things they should add to make us viable.

  1. Allow us to cast rejuvenation in moonkin form again.
  2. Treants casting roots.
  3. Faerie fire slow.
  4. Damage reduction and critical strike reduction while in moonkin form.
  5. Starsurge back to the original astral power cost.

I went guardian on my druid but then people whined, cried, and whined some more and Blizzard decided to completely destroy them in PVP just like they did Boomkin.

boomkin being good and the meta being fun i dont think has ever happened at the same time sry the chicken has to go

They could maybe start with removing the effect of swarm on feral and resto frenzied Regen so its base tuning doesn’t have to be awful

Those would be good changes. I have more.

Lower recharge cd on mushroom to 15-20 secs so we have consistent dmg and slow.

Make treants do way more dmg on 30 sec cd if they only last 10 secs. They currently do 0 dmg and are easily countered with a single root or stun. Completely useless talent.

Fix convoke to only target your main target instead of at random.

Increase dmg reduc via armor or flat % in moonkin form substantially. 200% armor would be a solid 10-15% dmg reduc vs melee.

Lower CD of fury of elune to 45 sec base, 30 sec with talent. More consistent dmg and ap generation. Also speed up movement so they cant just run away from it so easily, doing 0 dmg.

Add dispel protection with stellar flare similar to UA. Dispel it and get punished.

Increase stellar flare dmg substantially where it actually means something to cast it on someone. It does no dmg currently and getting kicked on it locks you out of everything, including your survival tools like renewal.

Delete natures vigil and give us back root charges for melee attackers. We need something better to get melee off of us.

Change the rattle the stars talent to reduce the cost of SS/SF by a flat amount instead of a percentage. Currently its 5% stacking 2 times, lasting a way too short 5 secs, which makes it hard to weave into your rotation to maintain the bonus, especially when you got melee riding you and stunning you into oblivion. Starsurge cost 40 AP, and starfall is 50AP. I think if it reduced the cost of starsurge to 25AP and starfall to 35AP with 2 stacks, it would make starsurge burst windows so much better with no need to buff starsurges flat dmg into OP territory. This would allow you to get 3 stacks of starfall going back to back or to cast 4 starsurges with a full bar of AP.

Change Umbral embrace talent (dealing astral dmg makes next wrath/starfire do 50% more dmg) to make it an instant cast as well. This would give boomkins in pvp a reason to run stellar flare as it does astral dmg, and allow us to do good dmg when we are being trained.

Bring back MoP boomy.

Revert back to MoP boomkin and we’d actually have a well-designed spec that could kite the zug, self-sustain, and deal good damage.

Boomkin’s design has gotten worse and worse every expansion since.

Boomie feels so bad right now. Played Druid my entire WoW career and I can’t remember a time it felt this bad. The damage is terrible, the rotation feels bad, self healing feels bad, the talent tree is weird…. Blizz trying to force in weird stellar flare/mushroom/skillshot plays that have never really been a part of the spec… Just altogether a hot mess.

Pretty disappointing knowing how good some other class playstyles feel after the new talent trees. They could’ve brought some really awesome stuff back like insect swarm, it just feels trash. Sad

I think the design is mostly* great compared to sl the tuning is just worse on almost everything

*If balance was a meta spec right now, orbit breaker dropping random instant moons would be the most irritating single talent point in the game

I like alot of your suggestions but I hate stellar flare there is way to much button bloat with convoke, wrath, starfire, moonfire, sunfire, stellar flare, starfall, starsurge, mushrooms, and fury of elune. I like the idea of some sort of dispel protection and moonkin form giving a % based damage reduction. Treants really are crappy the way they are I loved when they used to cast roots.

I think the button count is in a good spot for the most part on boomy. I dont have issues hitting my keybindings personally.

Stellar flare should honestly be instant cast, given its dmg output. If they buffed its dmg substantially, then its worth a 1.5 sec cast. Currently its not because its astral and shares all schools, so getting kicked on it is a death sentence basically.

Treants should be so much better. Have you ever tested it in pvp? they will literally do like 20k dmg, on a 1 min CD. its unreal how bad they are and im dumbfounded blizz released the game in such a state. No one takes treants. Not in pve or pvp. Not a single person.

EDIT: Just tested on the pvp dummy and they did 25k dmg. Unreal.

Full Moon and consequently Orbitbreaker have literally never been well-designed. It’s nothing but a cool spell effect whose gameplay execution has always been lacking, either bad or unhealthy.

Frankly, I don’t understand why Wrath and Starfire still even exist, either. Hard casted spells that tickle HP bars are terrible design. Make them – at least Starfire – more consequential. But I guess that’ll never happen due to the asinine cooldown/modifier-reliant gameplay they’ve been peddling for years.

One of the key differences between Feral & Boomkin survivability for many years now has been the former’s infinite Predatory Swiftness instants, while the latter OOMs for weaker hard casted heals. It’s just a bad dichotomy. Owlkin Frenzy should allow either your next Starfire or Regrowth to be instant, and Protector of the Grove should buff Regrowths cast on self as well.

Treants are just a dumb AP generation button right now. They should have their former rooting utility back. Even that might not be enough to kite the melee train in today’s game, but it’d help, and boomkins frankly should be the master of roots as a CC (instead, again, feral can do them better).

Astral Power has ruined the spec offensively. MoP’s balance bar was perfect, and allowed skillful manipulation to reset Starfall CD. Having Starsurge & Starfall be mutually exclusive AP spenders feels horrible. Starsurge procs provided a far more visceral and effective incentive to spread DoTs than trickling AP and tickling damage with zero dispel protection do.

Don’t get me started on how bad Stellar Flare has always felt, being a hard casted DoT that does little damage, has no dispel protection, and locks us out of all schools if kicked. Why is it even a thing?

Oh, and Nature’s Swiftness. Not sure why we ever lost that utility.

In short, modern boomkin’s really just a pathetic shell of its former self. The game’s as or more rife with CC and damage as MoP was, yet boomkin has a fraction the amount of tools to keep up, while melee have proliferated more and more.

Idk i’ve mained boomy during mop and i hated how the spec could only do meaningful damage during incarn and how the eclipse bar limited it’s damage. BfA sucked as a xpack but balance druids were better designed there imo

The mastery is horrible, almost hpal level bad for pvp. Boomkins need to do rot damage again and be able to cast everything in moonkin form(Rejuv) while having more damage reduction so they dont have to sit in bear. Comparing them to Aff lock or Ele sham, boomys suck which is sad because in MOP i loved mine. Their suckiness is what stopped me from leveling a druid, even though Restos so good.

Was looking really good in early to mid beta (like Septemberish) and then they nuked it from orbit.

The increase in surge cost just straight up sucks. Astral communion feels mandatory to get some damage out, but even then 60 ap isn’t even 2 starsurges…

Orbital strike is a nice talent and making incarn 2 minutes feels too good to not take anyway.

I still love Boomy in my heart and am slowly leveling it through bgs to enjoy some power for now.

It feels close to good, just needs some adjustments on talents, surge cost, and damage adjustments on our hard casts.

And stellar flare sucks. A hard cast astral (like full moon) is too risky to take in anything where kicks exist. Locks out everything.

@skoosh I was in a solo shuffle with you on my hunter Banjofrog. Your damage made me have some hope in Boomy again.
