Because ToS says it should be free or it should be banned
are you seriously defending gold sellers now
Except tos does not in fact say anything about selling databases. Only that each addon, and only the addon, must be provided in full, for free. Addon /= player created database.
Why should you get a compiled organized database of information not included in the addon for free?
blah blah blah none of these workaround technicalities work with other addons. only restedXP. just admit that there is some corruption going on. it is what it is
Yikes so your take is those uis for twitch subs do not currently exist on nearly every rtwf streamer info page and never have? There isnât a non-player paid weakaura programmer for all three major guilds in rtwf?
Databases (exported addon configurations) for cash have been around for a long long time. Xperl, shadowunitframes, bartender, weakaura, plater, and on and on. RTWF streamers literally pay people to program addons for them, both outside of raid and literally during the rtwf itself.
Its ok if you donât know these other for-cash addon scenarios, but if youâre going to be openly condescending at least have the good grace to actually be right. Banning restedxp while allowing Max to purchase weakauras for cash in front of crowds of tens of thousands of viewers would be corrupt. Failing to provide you with someone elseâs time and effort for free is not corrupt.
Just a baby whining
Its free up to a certain level
Here is an explanation why the RestedXP Addon is not against the TOS:
- The addon is free to use at all times. They even include guides up to level 20 that shows how the guide works.
- Anyone is able to create their own custom guides and continue to use the addon free of charge. There is even instructions on how to make your own custom guides on the website and you can get help on their Discord
- The paid guides are allowed because of number 2. You are not required to purchase these guides to use the addon and make your own custom guides.
People who complain about this great addon are the ones who do not understand the benefits. Itâs not all about speedrun guides and survival guides. Itâs also for people such as myself that easily get lost in regards to what to do next. Iâve been playing for nearly 20 years and I still easily get lost or distracted and waste a lot of time.
I donât use the guides in Retail because Blizzard has recognized that people want a more linear path on the main quest line. RestedXP does this in a sense by providing that path to keep people on track when they would otherwise get lost.
Because someone that works at Bliz makes the addon. So they turn a blind eye so this person makes a bit more money. You are naive and have been ignoring the news stories about this company.
You are misunderstanding. The addon itself is and always has been free and there is no optional charge to upgrade the addon. What people are paying for is a guide that is compatible with this âleveling guide interfaceâ addon. Rested xp has just added a âsampleâ guide to their addon to show you what it looks like/how it works.
Itâs like opening a video or audio editing software that has a sample file automatically loaded up. That sample file isnât a part of the editing program
i understand the workaround itâs still against the ToS
Well, youâre wrong⌠so thereâs that
Itâs notâŚthere is no âpremiumâ or paid version of the addon. You are paying for a completely separate entity that is the guide that the addon can display (which is optional).
Creating a paid l, outside resource for the game is not against ToS. If it were every popular resource website people use would need to be shut down since they have a âpremiumâ version (wowhead, raidbot, simc, icy veins, etc.)
If itâs part of the addon it is against tos to charge for it is why. If they want to provide a paid database why does it have to be part of an addon? They could sell it independently of wow and addons and not violate tos.
The paid guides are sold independtly of wow and the addon. Those guides are not needed or required to use the addon. Anyone can make their own custom guides for free if they choose to do so. OP doesnât understand this.
If the addon is required for the guides then theyâre a part of the addon. Sell them as a pdf and itâs not anywhere near tos.
Cant believe people need RXP still to lvl up, just get leatrix to automate dialog/quests and giver. Plus who even pays for RXP? In 2019 1 person bought the paid version and shared it in discord to 10000+ people, its just the Lua file you need for the guide, or just google it and you can find the pirated version
And you clearly dont remember MDT getting paywalled. Yes, the addon was free, but noggie paywalled the maps to import routes saying ypu can make them yourself. And remember how fast he walked that back.
Anyone that buys those add-ons deserves to be charged. Very easy to find free online.
Oh you mean calling something âfreeâ and charging for it isnât a loophole to the rule that addons must be free? (sarcastic)
