I know. It’s plain to see where I learned more about the trinket, admitted as much, and have updated some of the responses with what I’ve learned.
YOU however … seem incapable of this.
So it’s not me that needs help. But you. Good luck.

He doesn’t like being wrong and will continue to argue in bad faith as long as it takes for him to feel he’s right.
All you have to do is scroll up to see where I’ve seen how I was wrong, admitted as much, and updated other threads with what I learned.
Are you his roomate? Alt-account? lol nice try though.
pffft. as if. not even. I don’t associate myself with that pleb. Why to think someone of my caliber could lower himself to that level. Revolting!!

Yet you’re still here arguing just to be right…
Sorry, but more than one person can dislike the attitude you give and insults you toss. Robot and I have our differences at times. LOL So poor attempt.
Enjoy your last word, though!
Did you not play in mists?
Did you not play at the beginning of DF?
The trinket does a fixed amount of damage. The on-use effect will do the same amount of damage no matter who gets the trinket.
So it’s actually optimal for tanks to get it, because DPS can just get a different trinket that’s better and/or more competitive, but tanks will have a difficult time finding a different trinket that does anywhere near its damage.
This is correct. The answer to OP is to roll tank.
The damage from that trinket is additive, vs stat trinkets which are multiplicative.
In general, additive damage is more valuable than multiplicative on tanks/healers, multiplicative is more valuable than additive on DPS.
So while it might have been an upgrade for you Brocknor, Beacon is ~8% more damage for arms (which is barely half a percent more damage than what you currently have), but for a blood DK as an example, it’s 14% more damage.
Arguing to be right … when I was admitting I was wrong???
You’re a special case. lol
Yes. My DPS has always been AT LEAST twice that of any tank. And I’ve never pulled aggro. If I did … it was because they don’t know what “taunt” does. Threat is a non-issue in modern WoW. There might be ONE example of it in 500 cases.
Devistation Evokers still pull threate on aoe pulls if they unload amd dont wait
This trinket can pull threat is used on pull. Seena couple melee use it on bosses when tanks barely have a global into the fight.
It still happens. If youre not pulling threat, do more damage =P
Only 2 classes even have an aoe taunt tbpf and first few weeks of the expansion had massive aggro issues. Think it got hotfixed before even 10.0.5 but yeah. Initial m+ dungeons were not fun. Even levelling dungeons were rough. Taunt was ALWAYS on CD.
People only have 420 ilvl if they don’t play the game.
and vengeance too lol
good point why don’t these players do some 11s and get full 437?
I knew I’m forgetting one…
The idea that tanks and healers don’t deserve loot that DPS players could use instead has always been an extremely crappy way to treat people. Because…you know…they ARE people, too. And they want to improve their characters just as much as your precious DPSers.
No, it’s because often you’re better off gearing dps to meet dps checks, make the fight go quicker to help healers etc etc
Gearing tank damage over dps, or healer damage over dps would be a bit silly during progression. Just like giving dps a healer or tank item would be.
This specific trinket though is pretty irrelevant due to it’s nature.
It’s a flat damage trinket so it’s contribution to the raid is going to be roughly identical no matter what player has it, the important factor is who of the people that wanted it had worse trinkets at the time.
Prot war BiS right now is beacon/zaqali. If you don’t want to roll off a mastery + aoe damage on use trink with your tanks, you’re going to have to swap games, because that’s exactly what every tank spec should be using right now. Their other options are the new heraldry trink or a small absorb shield. Meanwhile, the trink you are complaining about losing to a tank, isn’t even top 5 for DPS war. Beacon doesn’t scale, DPS war needs trinks that scale. You get a crap ton more damage out of the new heraldry trink than the tanks do. ANd your other BiS is screaming black dragonscale, because it is another % scalar.
And frankly, even your supposition that tank damage doesn’t win or lose fights is wrong. Every single little damage you can pack in the raid helps. It’s the difference between a 1% wipe and having already been dead for awhile. That trink will be a 5K DPS increase for the tank, and a 20K DPS loss for a DPS using it over a sensible DPS trink.
DPS uses front-loaded burst damage trinket on pull, gets aggro, dies.
Tank uses front-loaded burst damage trinket on pull, aggro secure.
Tanks using trinkets that primarily do damage is not unheard of. It isn’t like a healing trinket that specifically interacts with healing, it’s a basic on-use damage trinket with mastery.
For evoker, even though it is a mastery-heavy trinket, it’s one of the worst trinkets for Devastation even if you compare a 450 vs 437s despite it dealing damage on-use.
