Why do you care? I play my Vulpera because I want to. I hope that you sleep well at night OP.

1: i have never said that I only play for optimization
2: I am glad someone actually gave me non “visual attraction” reasons to play a vulpera because you have given me valid reasons to play a vulpera out of the context of a person who would play them because they look nice.
3: goblins have alchemy buffs, a mobile bank and a pretty neat mobility buff with the rocket jump, however now that i am looking over the goblin racials it would seem like the race is built more for those who play the auction house game

The general nomad theme Vulpera have seemed like a good match for a Beast Mastery Hunter.

One thing that I havent seen mentioned is that female vulpera at least have a few different animations that change animations I dislike on female goblins. The wiggly fingers casting spell and the cartoon sneak are both changed on female vulpera for example.

I played Undead male for all of Vanilla through to WoD. It at the time had in my opinion the cleanest animations. Now I did dabble a bit on other races with alts, I had a lot of human females and goblin female toons in addition. Goblins to me were a race that is fun to play for a bit, or as a caster/hunter. It really begins to bother you as a melee.
As for why I play Vulpera now over goblin, I had a childhood that was borderline obsessive with foxes. Not a furry or anything despite how people will probably try to twist that and in fact I’m probably more negative to furries than most people on this forum. Just my family always went to a park that was like a feeding place for animals as well along a path. Used to just sit around and play with the fox through the chicken wire every day for about an hour. So more or less I have a sentimental attachment to foxes and feel drawn to the vulpera due to that. Can’t say it’s all bad, I quite enjoy them more than goblin. Better feeling racials for how I play, Rocket Jump is good for PvE at times but I really like the throwing a shadow ball racial.

Honestly, I’d rather just play a gnome. But I can’t play one with my friends. 
Also Goblins can’t be monks for some stupid reason.
