Why I'm buying Shadowlands

Buying it regardless of circumstances.

God Ion could come out in a stream and say, “Scrunchy, we are designing the game specifically to make you personally hate it.”

I can’t drill a neuralink into my skull, hook up to life support, and live in VR where I shoot lasers out of my hands and torture sentient AIs yet. So, I’ll settle for WoW. We all must prepare for the virtual infinite tsukuyomi of the future.

Unrelated thoughts on past expacs.
MoP best PvP expansion (purely on customization options), Legion best PvE expansion based on game play. Wotlk peak story.

Yep no need for me a regular shmoo to play at launch. Let the try hard world first wannabes trudge through the broken mess. I will see you once lfr is fully open–not that i do lfr. But at that time classes may be ironed out and i wont have to get frustrated when they retune things every other day. I’ll use the 30 dollars in sub fee i save towards my cyberpunk2077 purchase so I see it as a win win for me LOL. Thank you all for beta testing and fixing things. Make sure its fun when i return in February for the Shadowlands 50% off sale.

Ugh, another legion baby. Alright man swats away with newspaper what ever you want to believe in. You’re delusional lmao.

Very well put.

I’ve been playing since the end of vanilla. Try again.

It was peak but not for flying. It was peak because of other reasons. Trying to tie it to flying is just intellectually dishonest but go right ahead.

Interesting. My experience in BC was people flying in waves into Halaa. Those without flight used the flight paths while those with flight moved in a squadron, swooping down on the town to hit strategic points, no longer being knocked off the various bridges. People flew after those attempting to flee the towers in Hellfire, ensuring there was no escape.

Look, you have a subjective opinion about what has worsened the game. Meanwhile, the community feels more helpful and open with flying (especially two seaters) given the fact people consistently help others reach places they can’t because they don’t fly. And between the Legion prepatch and this one, a flock of flying mounts moving from location to location to deal with bosses and threats is a lot more impressive visually.

Perhaps rather than blame flight, it’s more pertinent to blame the content on the ground is simply not interesting enough to contend against the sheer joy of verticality.

I love when people who have only played a small released portion of SL or even not at all and have made up their minds based on a trailer decide its “just the same as xpac”. lol.

Which is proof that flying did not affect the game negatively.

This game is 20 years old, it has evolved over time to fit what the gaming standard of today is - for good or bad.

I say yes and no to this: WoW’s dynamic changed, this was the beginning of WoW transitioning into the more modern MMO. Wod wasn’t a good expansion, but raiding was top notch in that expack and saved me from unsubbing TBH.

It is, i’m sorry but the developers of this game in interviews have disagreed with you.

Do you? I highly doubt it, and you can’t interact with a flying player, they are essentially in a bubble of immunity. As far as PvP goes, kind of funny thing to say considering my WM on an RP sever is packed, you’re just seeing what YOU want to see.

Mighty strong opinion for such a terrible statement.

/good grief. Completely missed the point. Flying had a negative effect but when you take into consideration everything that BC and WoTLK had to offer it was counterbalanced.

Just because an expansion is good does not mean that all aspects of it were good.

I’m sorry but the majority of players who pay to play this game disagree with you.

I do. You can interact with them just as much as on the ground. Click on player, right click portrait, click whisper, proceed with your interaction. Exactly as it would be on the ground.

Blizzard had to bribe players with heroic level raid gear just to get participation in WM. This was before flying was available. Wpvp is a joke.

You’ve failed to send the message then because they don’t care at an individual level what we think or say. They look at numbers on a spreadsheet. Your retail purchase as far as they are concerned says that you like the game as-is.

The only way to get through to them unfortunately is to not buy.

So you’re saying wow would have hit more than 12 million subs if we didn’t have flying in Wrath? Is that what you’re saying?

You’re delusional if you can’t see how popular flying was/is.

I really am just arguing that there is a negative impact on the game caused by flying, I am not arguing the severity of that negativity but merely that it exists.

Ugh you’re gonna force me to dig through youtube.

For what? I know what the devs have said about flying. However it directly conflicts with how most players feel about flying. It’s better for the game.

Yes WoW would have hit 12 million subs if they didn’t have flying in Wrath because the story and the raids in Wrath were what made the expansion (not flying). If you really think that it was flying that cause Wrath to have 12 million subs than you are in no position to call anybody delusional.

Flying is popular, I agree, and I personally have no problem with it but if you do not realize that it had a negative impact on overall in-game community interaction than you are being either willfully blind or ignorant (take your pick).

I started playing in WoD, it’ll always be a special (but not necessarily good) expansion for me. HFC was when I got into raiding but even a year of that was too much.

Regarding flying. I personally think it’s a great convenience especially with multiple alts but it takes away the ‘grand’ feel of things, the ‘hugeness’ of the world that a ground mount gives. That being said, I really enjoy the sense of freedom that flight provides.

I bought SL because, frankly, I wanted to. I enjoyed the chaos of BFA and Legion when they launched, the whole “what the hell am I supposed to be doing?” feeling. Besides, I enjoy spending time with my guildmates and there are plans for levelling groups and dungeon runs the first week and I don’t want to miss out on those. I’m really hoping that SL will be better, I’m intrigued by the new systems that are coming and I’m hoping that it’ll be more alt friendly than BfA was.
