Why I switched to Horde: A look at why Alliance and PVP servers do not mix

I played horde primarily for 10+ years. There were stints here and there of some alliance play but horde has been the overwhelmingly majority of my time.

I thought, lets go Alliance for classic. Get a different feel for the game. Well…after two weeks, we are all horde.

I am not saying all people on alliance were bad but I noticed early on that alliance players, for whatever reason, did not want to group together for anything. This is sort of a blanket statement because I did group with some but my overall time on alliance was met with declined invitations even during kill quests, not even gathering. When the Horde would control an area I would plea for the alliance to come meet up and take them out, I was met with no’s, meh, and silence where as when one horde would die you would be met with 10 or more in seconds to make sure you understood you did not mess with them and theirs.

Alliance community overall just feels…meh where as Horde, as soon as I rolled on another server had people talking left and right in general chat. It feels more alive and involved and every person I tried to group with accepted and we got some work done.

Anybody else seeing this? I don’t want to say that all alliance are this way, just saying its been crazy to see the overall differences so far.

I go out of my way regularly even when id rather not…

I get invites to groups when im grinding mobs because they need something in the area. I help them whether i want to or not because i know later down the road I will see them again and maybe they will be the one helping me.

Today for example i helped a priest in STV kill a bunch of Raptors. I didn’t need any raptors but they did and its free exp for me.

Last night Nesingwary was being camped (again) by alliance on Faerlina. most of them were 40+ ganking low level 30s. We didn’t stand much of a chance but with our combine numbers and 1-2 higher levels we overcame them and retook the camp.

This is a pretty common theme. I actually tend not to gank alliance if i know for a fact they are questing or wont mess with me. I wave to them and if they wave back its all good, if not, i just suspiciously watch them for a little bit until we move far enough apart. There is no current benefit to being a douche so I don’t.

Ah so that’s the reason I have random horde waving at me from time to time. I never understood the reason that they did it. I always thought they were doing it just to mock or threaten me lol

I’ll make sure to wave back in the future for truce XD

I did it on alliance, I would get a wave back, would be questing, and then have about 5 horde descend on me, usually including the one I waved to. lol

yeah typically i do it to feel out if they are going to try to gank me or not. Sometimes ppl wave and then attack which i honestly even find humerus sometimes

Oh, Alliance on Faerlina talk a lot, it’s just not the kind of talking you want to see

It’s a nightmare

That is Asmon’s server. It is to be expected.

Yeah, I was pretty confident I didn’t want to be here (let alone alliance) but I’ve been with my guild for like 13 years and I’m not about to leave now. It’s just awful to put up with. Not just Asmon’s server, but streamers in general, Twitch culture is absolutely dreadful and dominates the server

yeah i came here for the population but its a fairly toxic server. not so much on horde side but i mean, its still the internet lol

I actually am contemplating moving to heartseeker. gotta talk to the friends and bf first though. Id like to finish leveling and man oh man STV and arathi right now are like vietnam Lol

I’ve found Smolderweb Alliance pretty fulfilling in the social sense. They group up readily. They ask for grouping if they see someone doing the same quest. Overall, it’s been very social and civil and polite.

As to WPvP, we’re not yet at endgame, and a lot of people just want to grind…so I get it. They see PvP and do their best to go elsewhere because they’re on a mission for levels. On the other hand, we find no shortage of takers when our guild groups up to go “do something” involving PvP.

If we go to Nesingwary to shut it down to Horde for 30 minutes…if we escort people to flight points in Horde-dominated areas…if we form a raid to travel to SM from SS…the Alliance players we pass will join us and buff/trade/talk/travel along. My questing partner and I have been present when people not in our guild or group were being ganked, and we try to step in and help. I’ve seen other people do the same (a couple of times…for me–thanks, fellow Smolderweb Alliance). It’s a good community.

So. I think this experience OP is talking about will vary from server to server.

Yeah, I was on Stalagg.

I wonder how much that has to do with the server, the individuals, your personal experience, or the factions in general.

It’s not consistent with my experience. But, what do I know. My alliance warrior is only level 20, but people have gone out of their way on Faerlina to help me with things. Like, I asked someone where they got their fishing pole, and they escorted me to the vendor. I’ve grouped with teams of people in each leveling zone, and have actually been having fun leveling.

On Kurinnaxx, which I had rolled an account for on launch day, because of long queue times, I’m Horde and the community is pretty decent, but not as good as Faerlina, in my opinion. I hadn’t thought of it as a faction difference, but more of a population thing.

We don’t have time to socialize. We have to out level you so we don’t get perma-ganked in Red Ridge / Wetlands / STV

A lot of Alliance guilds (mine included) left Stalagg for low-queue servers. I think that might have something to do with it.

Also…you didn’t give it long enough! Starting areas are not a good representation of how Alliance tends to PvP and socialize.

I love playing on both teams. Horde is my favorite, but that’s not where my people are, so I’m blue team. I’m having a good time, and I think the key to that for Alliance side is having a guild you enjoy.

Spoken like a true coward. Horde is sadly the mainstream faction and easy mode. I remember when Horde were actually the underdogs in actual Vanilla WoW. But since over the years of Horde being promoted and marketed by Blizzard as the faction they want everyone to play and feel cool about the Horde became the overplayed faction and that is reflected into Classic WoW despite it being different in real Vanilla.

Never had an issue with the overall population on Faerlina Alliance. Sounds like a personal issue.

I’ve been alliance my whole time. Way fewer Wpvp victories, but much more glorious. Nothing beats winning as the underdog.

I concur. Horde have massive numbers and racials are part of the issue, but that will never change.

For me? I get instant BG queues come phase 2 while horde will be waiting like 2 hrs per queue. gg

Boom.

Exactly. Also, I love that there are ever so slightly more Horde than Alliance on my server right now. It makes things feel sweeter when we have a win.

Also…I will reiterate: insta-queue BGs. /nod

This has been my experience as well.
10man UBRS refusing to help someone dying outside to horde camping.

Alliance are mostly big manginas for the most part. Will reroll horde soon and keep this lvl 60 on different account to kill horde players messing with me
