Why I quit SOD, and why i will not return

When SoD was announced I was super excited. I had quit retail and was dabbling on classic, but SoD really drew me back in a big way. However, in true Blizzard fashion, the game was ruined from conception. Heres my issues with SoD, why I will not give SoD a second chance further down the line, and why Im even bothering with this post.
Biggest issue for me with SoD was the Waylaid box grind. When i chose my main, rogue, all i was excited for was to try tanking. Having my best enchant locked behind an ardous uncontrolled grind was disheartening to say the least. I left Rogue and looked at other classes I thought I would enjoy and came up with the same issue.
Secondly we have the Botting issue. Entire chunks of zones just crawling with bots. Bots that weeks into this are STILL using the same pathing, area and names and should be easily stomped out. Blizzard has done very little, as usual.
Thirdly, I had more than a few issues with the players themselves. No one is willing to run dungeons with out half the loot table being reserved. Gear checks for Deadmines, saw that many times. Not many people grouped it seemed so quests took nearly an hour that should have taken 20 min tops. Of course you have the usual people in chat just doing their best to be trolls.
Finally, and I admit this one is largely on me, I rolled on the second RP server. Chaos Bolt. First off, allowing the first RP server to be taken over by streamers was a bad call in my opinion. Streamers should have an assigned server to use while streaming, and allowed to use any server they wish when not. Allowing them to take over the only RP server forced many of us to roll on Chaos bolt released hours after launch. Again, just felt bad to not be playing from launch. My fault, yes. But avoidable by Blizzard.
Side note: Gold buying is a huge issue but not one that has affected me as of the time I quit. The fact Blizzard refused to treat a streamer the same as everyone else is a huge red flag though. SoD confirmed that the Classic team is no different than the retail team.
No you cant have my stuff, my gold, or my attention.

I do hate this, it’s so silly! Like, it will drop again, running dungeons to spec out your character is part of the game. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll build a group to game the odds in my favour a time or two but I don’t care that much, and if I lose the item, I’ll just get it on the next one.

Anyway, sorry you had a bad time. I think Blizzard is still working out some kinks here and there defintely are issues.

Still, I think you would have a much better time if you found a group of folks to play with and have fun. This is easier said than done but it’s true. Having a group of friends to play with makes a lot of your issues go away, since you don’t notice the bots as much and reserve runs are nonsense when you know you’re just gonna run the dungeon together again until you all have what you need.

Whatever your future holds, good luck to you!

The most ridiculous I’ve seen is single mages wanting no competition on all cloth gear from SFK (not even from the healer). But in the end I ran it a few times with other clothes and got the loot eventually. The worse group ads you see are not the norm, but of course you see them being spammed in LFG because it takes longer to fill a group under such restrictions.

I have a ret pally that I play as “pretadin”, so I often tank runs just because I can. I saw a maraudon group looking for a tank so I offered to do the run but mentioned that I was indeed looking for the ring that dropped out of there. The group lead responded back and said they just couldn’t bear the thought of a ret paladin getting the ring and so he wasn’t going to invite me.

So I immediately just jumped in the next group and we did 5 runs together while that same person sat there still trying to find a tank.

It was glorious!

Oh, and we got 2 rings in those runs

Serious question, what is this streamer stuff that some ppl r talking about?

some streamers and their large followings rolled on rp realms, causing them to be full.

When people run the same dungeon 10 times while constantly losing the roles for the one piece of gear they need, they tend to get pretty freaking tired of it. So you bet they’ll just start hard reserving the item they need.

No not difficult at all.

What I see in this post, and others like it, are self fulfilling prophecies.

Skill issues. Get good.

Same boat but way earlier as soon as sod dropped i couldnt play because i was away from my house for like a day and then blizz closed the server my entire raiding guild rolled on so i couldnt play for like a week and by the time i could play everyones max with full raid gear and max runes meanwhile im level 2 and leveling is taking 10x as long as hardcore because even as of writing this almost january and the zones are still full when i try to play so i havent had a chance or reason to enioy playing it. Personally i know that im just unhappy but sod isnt what i expected tbh its very boring to me

Why would anyone join a group like this?? For the pleasure of the company of the person laying down the law??

Just run with a guild if you’re gonna hard reserve.

So glad these clowns all went to SoD so when I play Era I can enjoy it.
