You simply have to sift through the “meh” RP to find ones that are suitable for you and your character. It’s quite time-consuming, sure, but this problem’s prevalent in every text-based RP server that I am a part of.
Okay, but here’s the bottom line: This is World of Warcraft.
What age bracket should be left alone and unsupervised in Moonguard? Why is that? How is this RP then? What age bracket is Warcraft for then?
So it’s just an XXX rated server with Fox Facebook level trolls hopping around with ya’ll. But it’s not advertised like that, and the only retort I’ve thusfar heard on the subject is “Lol its moonguard you should already know” but in the same breath you’ll also say that this is the best RP server for alliance…
Ummmmmm hello?
You make it sound like we have literally any choice in this lol, RPers aren’t a monolith, my guy.
That’s honestly the only fact I cant argue around and my heart goes out to you, dude
It is PG13, and most, if not all, of the public content is PG13. Anything perceived to be 18+ must be handled through whispers. Simply report those who violate the rules.
We’re not all happy with our situation here, we just make the best we can of it because there’s nowhere else to go. Sorry it didn’t work out for you; it’s not a space that everyone can be happy in… that said, just because your experience sucked doesn’t mean the people who love it aren’t valid, and we really need to be able to accept that two things can be true at the same time and just leave it at that.
I hope your new server works out better for you. <3
I’d like to add to this lovely Gnome’s post here that the ESRB rates the game as pg 13 - online interactions however are not rated. Just report those who break the rules.
Blood and Gore, Crude Humor, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Alcohol, Violence
- Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB
Ripped right from the ESRB website.
I do think it is odd to blanket the entirety of the roleplay community based on your bad experiences. Just because you had a bad experience doesn’t mean the entire server is that way. I personally don’t engage in ERP, therefore I do not get interactions even hinting at such. It’s in my TRP so people are aware without having to ask.
It sucks you had a bad experience, but you’re going in the right direction by leaving for your betterment.
I thought your guild was great, along with the story, from what I saw from afar. But you are correct that short term / instant gratification is a much more prevalent thing.
I almost place some of the shift on things like Warcraft Conquest and other projects for that. Those are great things for what they are, not taking shots at them, but they have become the ‘standard’ for a while and they have ‘big stories’ play out in a few days with little lead up and even less follow up. And now so many guilds then also lean solely on those projects top provide their content that they cannot write their own stories.
I see it with my guild as our stuff is long term. Can take months to years for the story to play out but it is never over. Things can show up years later again. There are players that love that, and those members have been with me for years. Then there are the ones that barely last a few months because they need everything now.
It will always be a mix bag and breaks are good. There are those that still RP the same way out there, but I tend to find they are not standing around Stormwind.
Sorry i have to apologize. I in no way meant your guild or those more recent. I had forgotten newer guilds of Lordaeron. I meant to refer to the more ancient ones like remnants or knights who hang out in Stormwind cathedral all the time.
Lordaeron is dead and anyone affiliated with the living of Lodaeron need to move past it or seek therapy.
Ngl, RP has been pretty trash since DF. Don’t know what happened to this community, but it’s extremely pitiful.
The vibes in this thread are absolutely rancid!
I absolutely love my adopted families here on MG but if I could get the old ED back I’d cry tears of joy
i rp selectively. not always in stormwind, and generally with people i have gotten to know.
i also prefer the more smaller interactions, not some grand story, more of a person to person interaction type of thing. i am not some great hero, just another person, i find it much easier that way.
that being said, i do enjoy meeting people, but sometimes its difficult because i am generally out doing stuff and playing the game.
I don’t do organized RP but I am generally immersed in my warlock when I play. I am almost always playing in character when people see me. Evil warlock. I prefer to go out into the world and make my own stories. I often take pilgrimages to the dark portal in blasted lands.
Ignore the human warrior sitting on the edge and staring out at nothing. I’m not trying to be boring, its just my social anxiety telling me that everyone already hates me so why bothering reaching out!
You can get outa my head any time now.
This is the song that never ends.
Yes it goes on and on my friends…
I love you, you love me,
We’re best friends like friends should be,
With a great big hug and a kiss from me to you,
Won’t you say you love me to.
(Translated to Warcraft)
I hate you, you hate me,
Lets go raiding and kill somebody,
With a great big axe to cleave you into two,
Don’t you wish I were dead too.
If this is the last time I will hold your hand
I’ll always remember this last time I’ll see you
The fear, it came alive
The sirens of mourning
All consumed
This life, forever changed
Take too early, too soon
Show us how life comes back
