I already experienced the “getting benched because you refuse to do M+” in Shadowlands.
It was a real experience for me. This is what people are talking about when they say M+ is basically mandatory and no we weren’t Mythic raiding, we were aspiring towards it back then kinda.
We had to repitch the guild to get people to come back, it was getting too min/max-ish and most of our guild is casual. We had like half the people min/maxing, trying to push keys and then the other half showing up to raid in whatever gear they could cobble together, I showed up to Nathria in the full PVP blue set lol.
I then proceeded to raid AQ 40 and Naxx 40 and Nathria simultaneously. This was during quarantine, so the queues for Classic were like 4 hours. I had to wake up 6 hours before the raid, log my level 1 Druid alt and sit there and stay logged in until raid.
It’s baffling, isn’t it? Has confused me for nigh on two decades now. Even trashy Server umpteenth guilds act and run like they’re in the world first race.
You should see the guilds in SoD. They think they’re Team Liquid, but they’re more like Team Asmongold and the layers of denial you have to pierce and the pointless drama you have to deflect just to see the guild collapse is hilarious.
By the time “competent groups” become the norm, “competent players” have already outgrown Heroic outside a couple chase pieces like Spymasters or the Ansurek ring, which is why the run is so fast.
If people who need 7/8s for gear still can cleanly one-shot Ansurek, in terms of skill, they’re not spending 30 minutes in a single dungeon, they’re turbofarming them.
Basically the only world where Heroic is more efficient than M+ in terms of time/effort is if you’re being carried through it.
I quit carrots for the same exact reason. I remember the day. I was really young. K or 1st grade. My parrents made me eat carrots and I got sick. 40 something years later, if they aint in soup I ain’t touching them. I’d rather eat a spoon full of dirt, which imo tastes just like carrots except when you eat dirt you expect it to taste like dirt, not carrots.
