Why I quit: Invasive Addons

Why are any of these an issue? If you can play as good as someone that has dbm they should not notice that you don’t have it.

I do understand what you mean though, maybe its because I’ve raided in older MMOs but find the number one weakness of my teams is usually being observant and adjusting to the unexpected.

Unless something is screaming at them they wont take notice, or see problems before they happen and adjust… they can be very robotic and that would work if execution was always flawless and fights always static but there’s going to be times you need to adjust.

That said I don’t think addons are 100% to blame, If i was going to be a super old man I’d say warcraft logs had a more negative affect than addons. Used to be you wanted the boss dead now you want the boss dead and pretty, pretty orange numbers.

I must of missed out on that part that he has said. I was looking at his profile, and saw nothing challenging of his done, even when they were current, they weren’t completed when they were a challenge.

Then this is a “you problem”. Nobody is forcing you to use any addons. If you find them “make your game-play easier”, then don’t use them. It is not a requirement to use them.

And before you make another stupid comment saying, “I have done many challenging content over the years,” yeah, things does not look like they were done when they were current from where I am looking at.

They usually don’t. I’ve been kicked from raids while performing fine because they found out I didnt have DBM though. That’s just some people and pretty rare, still irritating.

How did they find out though? Did you not get the pull timer right?

Unless you are messing up mechanics there is nothing that dbm does that would inform them other wise.

And what raids did you get kicked from? You have 2 normal raids cleared and one boss in heroic.

I think the only way someone is going to find out if he wasn’t using DBM if he typed it in chat. I never seen anything detecting people if not using any addons.

DBM will tattle on you, I use Big Wigs which has an option to trick DBM into thinking I’m using it so it doesn’t come up that I have it missing.

makes it easier for RL.

Pull timer, yeah.

I know, so the only thing that comes to mind is the boss pull timer. And that still would be hard to get noticed for.

So you’re a troll. Nice.

I’m not for or against in this argument, but this proves the addon is more than invasive.

I just wanted that to be clear so the debate is as truthful as possible. I use dbm myself if that info needs to be stated.

Not really.
The default raid experience gives you plenty of notifications for other things without blaring a vapid siren into your eardrum. I don’t rely on it a ton, i just have it running in the background that gives me a countdown between different phases.

Just watching a couple of FatbossTV guides and you’re golden. You don’t need the whole screen turning into a police disco party trying to alert you to the fact that you’re standing in fire.

What? How? Here’s how the conversation usually goes. “Why didn’t you pre-pot?” I didn’t see the timer. “Didnt dbm tell you?” I dont have it. “Oh.”

So in phase 4 of mythic Azshara you have to continually release bursts of energy into your raid so they don’t get accumulate and one shot you, which you must heal through, while azshara continually aoes the raid, creating a stacking arcane damage debuff that everyone must track and line of sight to drop stacks every 15 seconds or so. Meanwhile every 30 seconds a big beam that one shots you pops up, splits the arena in half, and rotates. Void zones that never go away pop up continuously, removing safe spots and eating up space as the phase goes on. Meanwhile she continues to accumulate power unless you run out from the safer areas to drain wards, which reduces your max hp. That’s right we’re all doing this at half health or leas. She is periodically doing a giant aoe one shot that must be line of sighted. She is throwing debuffs on 3 people at a time that must be line of sighted and dispelled sequentially. Every 30 seconds or so, a big eye shows up and throws another series of beams across the entire arena, each one is a one shot. She is routinely attempting to mind control players during this phase and one bad MC with an aoe stun ends the whole show. Theres more wards that must be taken care of, also at the cost of max hp, or else you take constant massive aoe raid damage, or just get a raidwide one shot. This is NOT the hardest phase of the fight, you somehow have to do like 100+ million damage to her while you do all that, and you had to survive 6 straight minutes of madness to even try it. And I have no idea what the tanks have going on, but I assume there’s something happening there to top it all off during the phase. But yeah man, you’re right, games easy.

Huh?

I never seen anything like this at all. While using DBM or BigWigs.

EDIT: I get annoying sounds from GTFO when you’re standing in Bad, but that is all GTFO is. Annoying sounds telling you you’re standing in bad.

You just answered your own question

I don’t know what settings you use. I don’t really change my settings so i guess that’s on me. But this video encapsulates what i’m talking about. It’s not my video, but it shows this god awful noise every time anything happens at all. I updated DBM one day and this became the new norm for me lol

A fight specifically designed to be hard around addons on that difficulty is hard around addons on that difficulty. Yes.

Why would u need dbm for M+??? Mechanics should be drilled into your brain by now…

You know you can change the sound or turn it off for any mechanics you want right?
